I have a bud (he's Bud #2 from the Accord debacle) who needs some minor machine work on a small chevy. What's a good engine shop around here?

Really minor, maybe decking the block, pushing wristpins on, stuff like that.

Thanks in advance

Bump?

I've never had to bump a thread on GRM. Ever.

I don't have a shop down there, but I'd call JMG (Jackson Marketing Group) down there and have them put out an email to their employees to take a straw pole of where'd they take it. They do the marketing for Michelin, BFG and about 4-5 other automotive OEM and aftermarket suppliers and their office is full of dyed in the wool gearheads. They'll have a suggestion or 2.

I honestly dont know. When I worked in manufacturing we had a place or two but I doubt they did motor work...

Dover on White Horse Rd, does head work, and they have a great reputation. There is a place (NAPA I think) on Laurens Rd, headed towards Mauldin. It's on the right, past the BMW/Mini dealer. My brother-in-law has had them do some machine work on a Plymouth 340 and a Pontiac 400.

Dover now does blocks too. There is also a shop in Greer that did my Nissan engine.
