Wow. I always know I'm in trouble when you check into a thread where I am asking for something weird.

Weird is my specialty! And how can you not love that thing, it looks like it rolled off the set of the original Star Trek!
If I had to drive a Motorhome, this is the way I would roll.
"in 1973 these coaches were state-of-the-art, with air suspension, aluminum aircraft structural bodywork, aircraft thermo-adhesives used to attach the body panel sheets, and, to top it off, a variety of interiors that were custom-built using the finest woods, fabrics, and finishes. Not built on a truck chassis the way many other coaches start out, the GMC motorhome featured a chassis designed, tested, and produced by General Motors exclusively for this innovative coach. The forward-looking vehicles were built in two sizes – 23 feet and 26 feet in overall length – and at 8 feet wide they are a bit narrower than today's new coaches. Their compact dimensions make them the perfect size for touring, exploring, and venturing into tight situations while delivering a smooth ride with all the systems of a luxury coach. Add to that the sleek, aerodynamic styling that still turns heads and attracts attention, and the GMC motorhome is a winner."
Easy button. Buy old Volvo with i-shift and Cummins engine. Get 5ther.. Register Volvo as an RV by installing a toilet inside the sleeper. DONE!

Im a huge fan of these....but. To get one thats been properly repaired and upgraded to address the inherent weaknesses of the model is $$$$. Or buy one cheap and pay even more to do those fixes yourself. I'll still probably give in to them sooner or later.

I love these as well. What are the inherent weaknesses of these? I know they are FWD using big block V8's. Is that the problem?

That may be a problem, but it's not THE problem. THE problem is that they are never quite as cool as the EM-50 urban Assault Vehicle version.
Seriously, if I ever get one of these, I'd want to paint it to match the EM-50 or just paint it orange to match the hotwheels version I had back in the 70's.

Light gauge frame.

front wheel bearings seem to be a plague on them. the rear air suspension is also a major issue. I can't recall the rest just that when I was hunting them there is a list of little things that plague them but it costs a bit to make it all right again.
Wanna come visit and get some busses?

Not a Mongo, but my FIL sent me this link:

Seems intriguing. I emailed the seller. I hope it hasn't sold so I can at least go check it out. I love the looks of it, and it might work for our family of four, but I doubt it would tow the Delica behind it.

That is the king of awesome. If I thought I could actually get that for $3000 there would be one hell of a Maverick style fly-and-buy thread happening. It's like you combined all the best things about busses, rvs, sailboats, and WWII naval ships.

Awesome.
Thanks, Wally.

That's not exactly what I am looking for, but definitely too good to not take a look at. I'd have gone today, if I had seen it earlier.
Why is there no description whatsoever? A couple of pics don't tell much about it, especially with a branded title.
That is Copart for you. As little info as possible. You've got a month on that one so you have time to check it out. You would need someone with a dealer license to bid for you though.
Here's an interesting one. 1981 Blue Bird, $5K
You'll need to log in to post.
