Umm...thanks, I guess.

Was that an attempt to help me understand how to class my car?

You just quoted the same rule I referred to earlier.

In reply to 81cpcamaro:

It's cool- thanks for your help.

So, if aero downforce aids stay, is there a class that works, or not really?

It's just something I am interested in playing with, but most of it can be made removable.

In reply to SVreX:

X-prepared works, but that's because it is a catch all class.

Honestly, none of this matters unless you're wanting to attend national tour events or nationals.....unless your local guys in that class are grade A douchebags. For crying out loud, my ti was never legal for DSP, it just happened to run competitively on street tires against the spec e30's that got tossed in there.

I mentioned the fiberglass rocker panels in my previous post, as I'm in the same straights as you, trying to class a car that I want to finish building. I had everything all set to go, wasn't able to find metal replacement rockers, bought a pair of fiberglass repros and suddenly found myself in the Modified Tub Classification. All I had was a pair of fiberglass repro rockers and I was bumped up to the Modified Tub Class where seemingly EVERYTHING can be fiberglass and aluminum.

Frustrating for sure, but it's their club, isn't it?

81cpcamaro cites the first paragraph in the section (F) that covers Aero, all well and good, but if you read down the listing that covers front, hood, spoiler, splitters, defusers, etc. You'll find that each of them (all Aero aids) is actually allowed in one form of another.

If you haven't already, look at Section 18 Modified Production Cars, it seems like belly pans and any number of other Aero aids are allowed in this classification, although you have to read carefully. I'm just beginning to.

Frustrating for sure, but it's their club.

Luck—I could sure use some . . .

when I first saw you post I started to jump in and try to help … then I read that you were talking about a Mod level build, and classing … and thought to myself .. I have just enough understanding of the SCCA BS rule book to help with S and ST …above that I'm helpless … good luck with the build

I think I have a game plan...

I will build it as a legal Emod car, to the limits I am able.

I will then add whatever aero I please, and build it in a manner that it is mostly removable.

I will then run it in Amod (at local level).

I look forward to the Amod guys deciding if they want to protest a rules regulation in a Miata.

That will give me the playground I am looking for, to play with the stuff I want to. Don't really care about PAX, or if I am disqualified.

It will be pretty simple to dial it back to a competitive Emod car. (assuming I am able to actually build a competitive Emod car!)

someone else mentioned X-Prepared … it's always a choice … pretty much anything goes in X-P

Are you set on all your aero mods and stripping the interior?

Miatas built to BSP or SSM rules are very competitive. A blast to drive and a surely would put a grin on your face.

I would actually prefer to do a custom retro interior- not sure what that would do to my classing.

In other words, I'd like an interior, but not the one that came with it.
