This morning, while I was out, the delivery man came to my house. Here's what I found on my front porch:
Anybody see where I'm going with this? Assuming that it's not an issue with the delivery company, why the hell would you leave yourself with an odd number of shocks in your warehouse?
Not everyone replaces in pairs?
You are fitting them on some sort of trike?
We can't see the forth box behind the other 3?
You didn't order those for your Robin?
EvanB I guess we're a classic pair of nut cases, because the first thing I thought of was also a Robin! I guess we need to get out more...or less!
They used the other to test out the runoverability of forklifts and converyor belts.

Runoverability... I do believe you invented a word. Congratulations my friend.

Maybe you actually have 6 there? For a Tyrell P34 perhaps?
Not quite the same thing, but when you go to the Tire Rack and shop for wheels, you sometimes find this message under availability:
"less than 3 in stock".
First of all, with computers, why can't you say EXACTLY how many are in stock? Second, just like this shock "deal" why stock something like this in an odd number?
BTW, I've received things like this before, that is ordered X but received X minus 1. For some screwy reason, the 4th shock often arrives a day or two later....like the shipper suddenly finds an excess shock and after looking at past shipping records, realizes you are waiting on a shock.
