Fresh '02 Red Honda Civic Sir just came in at my favourite used car dealer and it's in great shape. Had a bit of rust on the driver's door but it's been fixed by a good shop. Mileage is 160 km's same as my '08 MINI Cooper and I've always wanted an SIR but never liked to be called one (my attempt at humour, ha). After my other inquiry about my Mustang, I've decided to keep it but now that the MINI has started to gain some higher km's I'm thinking it may be cheaper to cut my losses and go for the older more reliable Honda. What are your thoughts, had the kids in there tonight and there is definitely more room back there for them.
Thanks
Go for the honda.
Also why do canadians hate to be called sir/ maam? Im from the deep south and my girlfriend is Canadian and I still haven't figured it out

Makes me feel old, that's my excuse.
In reply to chiodos:
In my experience many Canadians have, uh, 'interesting' ideas about propriety, regardless of their bizarre reputation for politeness.

Must be from Toronto.
Actually almost all are from BC. I'm going to focus on what someone's mom said about not having anything nice to say and simply mention that they're a very entitled people.
À chacun son goût. To each his own. Been to BC once and liked it but I had that same feeling. Now back to our program already in progress, EP3 or MINI?
Ep3! Only because I don't see a hoodscoop on your mini
Drove the EP3 today, nice car but not as sharp as the MINI. Now I'm thinking why not look for a lower mileage Clubman, kids would fit. This time I'll go for an 'S'.

If you are old, it fits perfectly.

If you get a newer Mini get used to this:
I've come close to buying one a few times, but thankfully every time some basketcase Mini comes in and reminds me why they're terrible. Turbos, turbo oil lines, water pumps, thermostat housings, and of course the timing chain failures are too common. Then there is the sun roof problems, its great fun when the drain tubes get clogged and then water pours right on the BCM corroding every pin on the body/chassis harness, and sun roofs that are so picky about adjustment they usually don't open in hot weather without assist.
They're super fun, but be real in that your good Mini experience is somewhat unusual. Budget 3k+ away for when it decides it needs to lighten your wallet.

I would think a few suspension mods would make the EP3 handle just as well, if not better than the MINI.

I know it's an emotional thing but being realistic tends to save money. I haven't been that lucky as the water pump, battery, coil packs and Rad all went south, not necessarily in that order. All happened in the winter, so even if I could do it myself it was too damn cold. The EP3 drove great, has some cosmetic issues but nothing major. I wonder what RSX's are going for these days. Type S would be sweet. Stay tuned, I'll check tomorrow.

I know this is true, good point. Probably a nice rear sway bar would help. My wife sat in the Civic today, she liked it. I do like the fact my rims/tires from the Mini will fit on the EP3.

This sounds like a good candidate for a carmax warranty.

Exactly. I may be the one working on your Mini if that is the case.
I've done so many complete engines, turbos, and cooling system crap its ridiculous. Clutches are sweet in that they go from perfectly normal to about stranded in 20mi or so in my experience. The disc gets so thin that the PP doesn't clamp it at all when it wears. On yeah those dual mass flywheels fail too. Another $1000(plus 11ish hrs labor).
Got an email from Mazda Canada to test drive one of their cars and you get a $50 gas card (it was a link on their website). Sounded good to me so I went today and I talked to the sales person and made it clear I was just there for the money, she laughed but was great and set me up to drive a 2012 Mazdaspeed3. Nice ride, torque steer wasn't as bad as expected and the pull was great. Price was too high as it was a loaded model but I'm putting on the list as long as it comes with a warranty. It's practical too, 4 doors and a hatchback, an easy sell to my wife. Not.
Took the MINI to one of our Regional autocrosses. Great day, lots of fun.
