QFT. Vinegar may not be the fastest, but it's cheap and it really works.
Kids PVC wading pool makes a great throw away tank.
I've used Evaporust to great success. Get a Rubbermaid and submerge them for a day, longer if needed.
Buy feed molasses at TSC. It comes as a powder.
Sounds like you are going to have to add in time and gentle but persistent persuasion to the mix. They WILL move eventually if you dont break them first.
Evaporust for a week with a daily visit with a tapping tool will work for sure.
