I received an E-mail Tuesday morning asking if myself and my car were available for work on Thursday. A new movie is being filmed around town and they were wanting cars from between 1980 and 1993. Mine is a 1979, but I thought I'd send it in with pictures anyway. Got the E-mail the next day asking if it was able to come to set Thursday. Seems the movie takes place in the early 1990s. I got the confirmation Wednesday and I report to set at 11:30 in the morning. Turns out, they also want to me to participate as possibly driving my car or as a pedestrian. Thursday was a long day. I got back from being on set for the upcoming movie; The Devil's Knot, starring Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth and Kevin Durand. Several scenes actually had Reese in between the camera and my car. They needed the neighborhood to look like it would be set in 1993 so they had all our cars parked in driveways and carports. Fortunately for me, they had my car parked on the curb in front of a house. They also had my car parked on the curb in a cul-de-sac. Just on the other side was a scene was Reese and her "son" talking in a yard with my car in the direct background. It was fun for that day eating good food and hanging out the crew and watching the cast.
Looking forward to this. I'll finally live my life long (well at least since it was put on the web) dream of having my car on IMCDB, lolol.
Hobnobbing with the stars and ate good food. Not to bad.
I also had my first paparazzi moment. I was waiting for the rest of the extras to show up and a lady pulls up and asks me if I was a part of the movie or in it. I told her that I wasn't, but that I was up there because my car was to be in it. She then asked if she could take pictures of my car. I told her sure she could and she did.
Now I have to watch TMZ to make sure I'm not on there!
My first car was a baby blue '79 Civic CVCC -- I wish it had been as clean as yours, though! Props for keeping yours in the fleet and on the road.
My old Jeep was in The Happening.

Yes, but they bought it from me first.
That's awesome. A TV production company scouted my brother's house just before the Mitty. They shot soon after--inside, outside, garage, etc. The commercial was just released, and his girlfriend's Mazda3 is in the background of a shot. If there's a catch, it's a Spanish-language commercial. Still, we found it online.

Cool stuff. You have a link?
It was real neat, though. Reese, or Reeses as us close friends call her (lolol), came out onto the set and was saying hey to everyone including us.

If you aren't joking that is pretty harsh. What the car is doesnt even matter but He is the owner of one of the cleanest CVCCs that I know of and i have only seen it here.

Thank you. I was wondering how this key part of the story was being glossed over.

And if you look in his profile there is a picture of it.
Thank you, Chandler and Evan.
Wow.
Wow, I thought I wandered into the wrong forum for a minute there...

Oh, I like those, and that's a particularly cute one!
Congrats on your taste of Hollywood
Cool story.
Is that the way the car looked? Are those stock-ish enough wheels for the movie? (Not that most movie goers would notice if they weren't I guess).
nice Civic!

My son has a fully restored '66 Caddy convert, black with white leather. Gorgeous car. I have wondered how you get in touch with movie/ commercial people to offer it's use, and does it pay anything. However, I worked on the filming of Bad Boys and watched a Cobra replica get totaled into a concrete wall. Was not supposed to happen, but they left it in the movie. Would not want that to happen to Tim's baby.
