Homologation Street Cars

this thread makes me warm and fuzzy.

Wasn't there a street version of the Toyota GT-One? Sort of like the Mazda R390.

Is the R390 really a homologation? I understood they only made two and one is in the museum. Seems more like a "because we can."

Also, Honda made a small number of 3rd gen odysseys in a cargo van format (no rear windows) as an emissions homologation. I have only seen a picture once, and cannot find it at the moment.

1983 Volvo 242 'Flathood.'

Not that exciting, because the good homologation bits it was supposed to have were, um, 'creatively reappropriated'. It did have an intercooler, which was one year ahead of the upgrade on the regular Turbos.

So it's basically a run of 500 242 Turbos with a unique hood and grille combo. But with water injection, adjustable suspension, a huge turbo and exhaust with double the horsepower, it did go on to win the 1985 Group A European Touring Car Championship.

They sold a street-legal version of the GT40

It has been mentioned, but since it is my favorite car of all times it deserves a photo: the 288 GTO

The Evoluzione edition was even more rare and awesome.

Does the 2000 Cobra R qualify, or was it just limited production?

Wasn't there an R model with lexan side windows and other pure race stuff?

OK, technically they only made one, but they were seriously going to put these into production at one point:

This also never made it into large production, or into it's intended racing series, but it was pretty awesome.

The 959 was built to take on Group B but that series was cancelled. The Dakar effort was a bit of "might as well".

actually i read somewhere that there were 11 made, a few got destroyed during testing. theres not a lot of info about them but theres talk that some were awd and some were rwd

Most of those aren't homologation street cars, they were built and sold to go go down the 1320 and that was it.

not the fastest by any means, nor the most technologically advanced, but the perfect balance with overbuilt suspension and brake components from much heavier platforms while retaining the rear engine, rear drive only fun. If I were to be have some 200 or so million extra come the end of the week an original and a clone build to spec would be on the relatively short list of cars (10 or so) that I'd purchase.

No, the Cobra R was a normal mustang with about everything changed, but still street legal(which means no lexan) Front lower splitter is removable and it has that epic engine under the hood.
