Honda rev limiter

Does a '96 Civic DX have a rev limiter and if it does were does it kick in?

It does. 7200rpms.

Swap in an EX or an Si cluster.

Don't expect the tach in any EK to be accurate, though.

Don't all OBDII cars have rev limiters?

Unless something really weird is going on with my car the DXs don't.

I was thinking about just sticking a shift light in it.

I'll bet it does... Just bounce it once and see if it hits. It'll sound a lot higher than 7200rpms, they're slightly strange sounding motors.

Grab a $20 cheap ricer tach off of craigslist and hook it up real quick for a day and see where you're at.

Or just swap clusters.

I meant it doesn't have a tach not it doesn't have a rev limiter. Sorry bad wording.

Yeah that makes more sense.

If you don't want a big tach stuck on your car, it shouldn't be too hard to swap the instrument panel to one from an LX or EX.

Skip all this awful analog stuff. Get a TinyTach.

That sounds hard to read....
