Curious how the Toyobaru twins are doing around the slalom cones? As much as the sport totally eludes me, since I have never been able to discern the intended path between the cones, I feel that whatever performs well on the tight twisty course, is a good indicator of what will be fun to drive on the street.
Hard to judge. All that I've seen so far aren't piloted by the best and the brightest.
I like the nomenclature of "the twins" -- let's add that to the GRM lexicon.
We've got three in our local club. All were learning the car last year. This year I am seeing some wheel and tire upgrades, and that might begin to clarify the picture.

I can fill in that the FRS/BRS (we pronounce furz-burrz) were popular at a recent auto-x I went to. There were about 8 of them in a 102 car field.
None were on the pointy end of the field and most were on stock tires.
There were at least a dozen of them at the last event I went too. pretty good times from what I saw.

I saw that title and thought you were asking about my twin boys. 
One of each flavor showed up at our most recent autocross and ran remarkably mid-pack times. I think they were both piloted by novices, however. I should have asked for a fun run in one of them.
Very well @ the big events. LOTS of people have the opinion that they will be the new dominant STX car.
For some reason, I thought of the twins Mia and Tia from Cars.
The reason I ask is because with the stock tires the car is certainly more entertaining than capable when it comes to pulling any G-forces around a corner.
I suppose a good use of my tax return could be a set of the BFG Rivals?
Rivals would definitely help.
The Frisbee twins can do pretty well, and they're still early in their development cycle. Here's some results from a recent CFR event: Deland in January
Note that the first place car in RTR is listed as a Miata, but in actuality Terry was sharing Henry's BRZ and set his fastest time with it. He drove his own car slightly slower on the fourth and fifth runs. STX was won outright by an FRS by almost 2 seconds.
(looking down pants) - Fine, I suppose? I only see one cone though, thank god.
From the test that I have read, they are a set of decent tires away from being a top performer.
I saw twins and cones in the same sentence and was distracted.

I believe one just won the prosolo in New Jersey. It was driven by Pallota (?) I believe. They are competitive, but so far, the BMWs seem to be tough to beat. They are also very new. Time will tell.
One of my students let me drive his on the slalom part of the school we start the season with. I took it easy as it wasn't my car and my intention was teaching more than thrashing but was faster than the student could do it. Agree, a decent set of tires away from being very competitive. Standard upgrades should put it near the top. I liked the shifter, postive feel. Seat has nice side bolster and is comfortable. And I fit in it better than any car I've driven, including my own. Usually end up with a seat adjustment compromise between feet placement on pedal, steering wheel distance and knee clearance from the dash. I'm just under 5'11" with about equal leg/torso length and not big, 180lbs. On my Miata and RX8 I have about 1" clearance between my knee and dash on both cars and wish I could get 1" closer without my knee against the dash. Would definately be high on the list to replace the RX8 in the future.
Had 2 in my class. After the school, I understand that one of the owners is replacing/upgrading the complete suspension system for track duty. Can't wait to see what it will be capable of after all that work.
My friend is doing pretty good in his and the only thing he had was stock crash bolts for more camber. He now has better all seasons albeit still all seasons and gained some time and has now put springs on so we will see at the next event. He's quite a bit faster than my stock NA miata on star specs ;p and I don't think its a driver issue
The better driver locally has pax'd as high as 3rd in a 100+ car field in STX with only tires. He's usually in the top 15 or so and he's really more of a rallycrosser than an autocrosser. I think the car is going to prove to be very good.
I think they're going to be really limited in stock class by the lack of camber adjustment, but I could see them doing well in STX.

Well, if the "Street" proposal goes through, that shouldn't be an issue.
Reading the newest fasttrack it really looks like it's probably going to pass. They adjusted a few things, but I wouldn't be trying to decide which r-comps to run next year. The big thing will be wheel width for the twins. How wide a street tire can you functionally run on 6 inch wide wheels? Subaru or Toyota needs to offer an upgraded 8 inch wide wheel option.
They seem to be enjoying it.
