Car owner here... I appreciate this discussion. Docwyte, thanks for coming by! Good to visit again.

As usual, wise comments here on GRM, both pro and con. There's room on pricing (as we discussed): No documentation on timing belt (just my pre-purchase notes saying "Yes, it's fresh") and it wants new tires.

It's got 140K miles, but it's really pretty and nice for a track car. Still has air conditioning, full interior; all the comfy and heavy stuff. And the OEM hardtop, in yellow.

Happy to answer questions or discuss more via forum, DM, or email.

I think the "asking" price sounds about right, maybe a hair optimistic. If you gotta have it despite knowing you are too tall - then make an offer. Worst case the seller will say no thanks.

After reading and following your recent short duration VW Corrado experience I would advise you to acknowledge you don't fit in this car and move on. I'm definitely sympathetic.. being 6'-5" tall - I'd love to drive a Miata but it ain't what it ain't.

It is a very nice looking car.  Had it been for sale when I bought my NB I probably would've tried hard to get this car.

Nope, that doesn't do it for me.  In my old NA, I put in a factory seat that I'd totally stripped the foam off of, so I was sitting on the metal seat pan.  With my helmet on I was something like 1/4" below the rollbar.  There's simply no way for me to comply with a 2" broomstick rule in one of these without a drop floor.

A foamectomy would probably make it more comfortable for me to drive on the street, otherwise I feel like I'm looking through the windshield header.

Calteg, yeah, the asking price vs selling price thing.  People can ask $15k or whatever they want but I'm curious as to what they're actually selling for...

Fair enough.

If I can ask, though, what exactly would your plan be with the car if you know you can't fit even with a race seat, and you don't want to cut the car up for a drop floor?

On topic, that seems like a fair asking price for what I see around here, but we have rust to deal with so rust-free versions pull a real premium.

Just use it as a street car.  Drive it to work, wouldn't worry about putting the dog in it (like I do with the 911) etc.

FYI, we've determined that this is indeed a 50-state kit so it will pass a visual in California. There's an EO sticker on the way to BoulderG.
