Because I'm special, my office has an external door. Also because I'm special, my office is next to the bathroom.
To, um, provide some ventilation I opened the door. I can hear Daytona speedway from here. The timing of this year's 500 didn't work for us, but Mrs. Editor wants to go, especially since they redid the stands. We watched some of the Rolex from up there, and it's pretty awesome. Maybe we'll do a group outing for that one, or at least for a practice day.

Yeah, sounds like it. We'll get there.
Reminds me of my days living in Claremont, when we could hear the NHRA guys running the Winter Nationals and Winston Finals in Pomona.
It's awesomeness hearing race motors do their thing.
IRL needs to run Daytona in the 24 hours configuration. Actually they run twin races a couple times last year with 2 races on the track Saturday and Sunday, they need to do a Daytona weekend running the alternate configurations one day after the other.
And what a glorious sound it is. Went to my first race at Charlotte back in October and hearing all 43 cars fire up for the first time was one of the most strangely emotional automotive experiences I've ever had.

I'll actually be watching that this weekend as one of the new drivers (Austin Self) is a local kart kid racing in it.

Cheer for Cameron Hayley, in the #13 truck. He is from Calgary, and he's beaten me in a SLM when he was 15 and I was 51.

Do you live that close? We were just down there last weekend.
I'm about 4 miles from RIR and you can solidly hear the track on NASCAR weekends. It's great. I'm sure Daytona is just a solid HRmmmmmmmmmmmm............... as do they even lift now?

I moved to kissimmee/celebration back in November. Swmbo 2.0 works for the mouse. Im about 10min from any of the parks from where i sit.
We use to live pretty close to the Pocono raceway... NASCAR weekends if you stepped outside, and cocked your head in the direction of the track you could hear the cars.....
We were visiting a winery and resort in Atlanta for our anniversary one year. While taking a leisurely stroll around the pond beside the first green after breakfast, Mrs. Fury and I clearly could hear a symphony of uncorked V8s at full song, nestled inside the bellies of a fleet of historic racers, heading onto the straight at Road Atlanta (6 miles away). It was glorious. We skipped the wine tasting that afternoon, and took in some fender to fender action.
