So I write what I feel is a pretty good add for the 1973 Dodge Dart that I am selling. I was detailed about the cars condition, mileage, how it runs etc.... I included 12 good pictures of the car and have 70 more available on my photobucket account.
The first email I recieve is from an angry individual who feels I some how mislead him by waiting till the third paragraph to advise that the car is equipped with a 225 CI Slant 6. "I had to read your whole add to find out the car does not have a 340". He then proceeded to tell me that my car is worthless because it does not have a V8. As if that isn't enough he goes on to tell me that it is not a Swinger because it is a 6 cylinder thus illistrating that he is an idiot on several levels.
Sorry for the rant, I was just a little miffed. There are countless horrible adds on craigslist and this guy is upset that he has to read a whole three paragraphs to determine that my car is a 6 cylinder.
Here is the add in question...
1973 Dodge Dart
Post it up again with a cell-phone pic of a quarter panel (at night, through the window from inside your house).
Then put text: "V6 Dodge. Has stripes. Runs Good."
Then send him a link and ask him if that's better.
Have you noticed that CL is asking for year and model.
Also asking miles and weather it is a manual or auto.
I see too that yours has VIN.
Oh how!!! I really hope that CL is finally going to a form or format. A format that can be searched. A way to look for manual transmissions only!

I normally have 2 to 3 cars on craigslist for sale at any one time and this add was the first one I wrote that had the transmission check blocks, so it must be a fairly new thing. I feel that the more information that they require from sellers will only help filter out all the spam / idiots.
Wow, that car looks gorgeous for $7k!

Oh, you and your assumption that people won't get it wrong accidentally or deliberately.
Actually, all the moron needed to do was scroll through the pictures to the engine shot.

Should ask him if he wants a referral to a proctologist to have Tue stick removed from his ass. I think he was just trying to beat you down so he could get the car for cheap.

Possibly, likely so he could go swap a massively overcarbed/exhausted/cammed, smog headed V8 (that consequentially runs like ass) into it and think its faster than it was stock.
Tell him a 340 is just compensation for his tiny hootus.
I was going to buy it until I saw it was a slant 6. I only like inline 6s that are straight up.

You should repost the ad. Include dudes email. Say due to this jackass I feel the need to blah blah blah. Leave his email address in it. Proceed to winning.
Did you kindly point out how much time of yours he wasted by sending you some bullE36 M3 email?
Be satisfied that the guy actually read three paragraphs in. Usually they'll write back asking questions they could answer themselves if they read past the first sentence.
This guy was cranky and ready to abuse anyone who crossed his path. That would be you. Also, did Chrysler still off the 340 in '73 or did they move up to the 360 by then?
I wrote a Craigslist ad giving away a free SAAB. One guy wrote back and asked if I would be willing to negotiate the price!

The guy didnt have to READ anything. All he had to do was look at the pics FIRST like any NORMAL window shopper would. I found the pic in like 2.7 seconds without reading anything but the price first.
That guy was just being a douche. It's CL, it's gonna happen.
very nice car btw

My very first thought as well.
Also, I had to make it to the 2nd paragraph before I read it has an auto transmission- I demand a full refund, the car is worthless, how about you let me take it off your hands for $2k?
Ok, since i'm SOOO generous, i'll give you $2,500. Are we square?
Good ad, good pics, and clean looking car. Needs new HEMI

This is what I would do ^^^^^^
That isn't worth your asking price? That guy is nuts.
Oh wait, should I have typed this above the quoted text?
When I get emails like that, I respond back saying, " It's hard to tell from your email, did you want to buy it or not?"
My Swift sold last week. It clearly says that in the ad on teamswift. I got a PM yesterday from a guy asking when he could come and see it.
