We've all seen the pictures: yeah, yeah, light blue & bright orange. Blah, blah, blah. But today I sprayed my old rowing shell (former life, interrupted by back arthritis) with Ford "Heritage Blue" - same color as used on the GT40 remix.
OMG.
These pictures genuinely do not do justice to this color. It is blue, and a bit green, and silver, and a different blue, all at once. And then a cloud rolls in, and it's a totally different shade. Absolutely mesmerizing. I am blown away.
Definitely not a baby blue. Deeper and richer. So much more going on. I was not planning this at all, but it's very possible that the TVR may end up this color. Maybe with big dark blue side stripes. Not the orange. Wouldn't look right.
Pretty fun pulling out the good spray guns and the fresh-air mask. Haven't used those in a while (see previous life in rowing world...). An base-coat / clear-coat sprays sooo nice. I forget that.
And the boat is going to get the full Gulf treatment. It should look pretty sweet when it's done!

I look forward to the finished product. It looks great as is.
Here's the cockpit area bare. It turned out ok. The problem with understanding really great body and paint-work is that anything less is super disappointing. I'd give this effort an 8 of 10. I've done better work, I've done worse.
This afternoon I put the foot-stretcher, access ports, and the seat tracks in. I get striping tape from McMaster tomorrow. Then I'll install the soft deck and some striping. That should pull the whole thing together.
Gotta find a buyer then!
Looks awesome! The color is great and Subarus recent "Hyper Blue" cars were like one shade darker than this and look great.
Got the boat all striped and decked today. It's rigged and ready for prospective buyers.
I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out. I'm coming to grips with it being an 8 of 10 backyard job, as opposed to a perfect 10 shop restoration. The price reflects that fact.

The color combination really is pretty awesome. I can see why it's stood the test of time.
