I have the coolest wife in the universe!
I love my wife so much, always have, always will. But this time she’s gone above and beyond. I’ve just found out that for Father’s day she’s sending me here. http://www.tracktime.com/ and getting me the 8 lap NASCAR Driving experience. 8 laps in a cup chassis around MIS at 150mph. I’m like a kid in a candy store on Christmas day right now with a E36 M3 eating grin from ear to ear, and it’s still months away!

Congratulations. That is a special gift for a car guy.

My wife wouldn't give me that. She'd keep it for herself.
my wife got me a 10 lap one at Thompson last year for my birthday, wicked fun..
Nice, driving an oval at high speed is a lot more fun to do than to watch.
Congrats! That sounds like an absolute blast!
On Father's day I get to go to Mosport but a few laps in a Nacar would be cool indeed.
I hear that... finding a good car guy wife was the luckiest/happiest thing I ever did
On our first anniversary, we took a trip to a winery/resort for a week of relaxation and together time down south. About 12 minutes after we arrived, while still unloading the car, the maddeningly sweet shriek of a dozen uncorked V8s at WOT could clearly be heard in the not too far off distance, wailing in a beautifully synchronized harmony that could only come from a close pack reaching the apex of a tight hairpin leading to a long straight.
Where was this magical resort? Unbeknownst to us, Chateau Elan is conveniently located about 5 minutes from Road Atlanta!
Yep, she was ok cancelling a days activities (Couples massages, wine tastings, fancy dinner etc) to spend the day at the track and watch a Vintage class race.
I think I will keep her!

if you do just the one 8 lap session, and it's your first, you'll be limited to 144mph.
My wife did that for my birthday in 2011. It was a blast, and very, very eye opening to what the cup guys actually do and have to deal with. I may not like watching NASCAR, but the respect I had for the drivers went up a big notch after that day.
You'll have so much fun!
This was how the conversation went in our house:
Me: Who called?
Wife: {Ade's wife), she's getting him one of those NASCAR track driving experience things and wanted to know if I'd do the same for you. Are you interested?
Me: berkeley yeah!!!!!
Wife: Yeah, I figured.

I have to disagree. My wife is the coolest wife in the universe! For my birthday a couple of years ago, she rounded up four of my buddies, bought plane tickets, and rented an RV to go to Bonneville for speed week, which was at the top of my bucket list. She even came with us and I didn't pay for a thing! Definitely the best birthday present I've ever got!

My wife wouldn't do that for me, she wouldn't even let me do that for me. That's part of the reason she's not my wife anymore.
That is very cool. You should have a great time. My brother did that a few years ago. He talks about it quite a bit.
My wife bought me a session at the Mario Andretti Experience at LV Motorspeedway about 8 years ago. It was only like 5 or 6 laps, but got up to 154MPH. I was so surprised at the amount of lateral G's a (toned down) indy car can pull. Felt like I was being ripped out of my racing harness.
My dad just bought me 20 laps at Irwindale Speedway in a "NASCAR". Can't wait to try that one too.
First, you are wrong because my wife is the coolest.
Second, sounds like fun.
For those claiming that their wives are the coolest... How close to absolute zero are they?
I offered to take my wife to Italy, but she said that she would rather I bought "us" a motorcycle to tour Lake Superior's north shore. 48 hours later there was one in the garage.
Care to give us the highlights of that tour of Lake Superior's north shore? It's on my bucket list. I want to do it in an Italian or British convertible from the 60s or 70s. Sigh.
That's awesome. A buddy of mine and I did MIS's "Track Laps" program a couple years ago. It wasn't quite the "full NASCAR experience" but you do get an idea how much grip a banked track generates. It was supposed to be 70 mph "parade laps", but we did get my old SE-R up into triple digits by laying back a bit and then sprinting it through turns 1 & 2 and down the back stretch. 80 mph in the turns felt a lot more solid than 35-40 mph on a highway on ramp. It was really eye opening. It would have been even more fun with slicks and a few hundred more horsepower. You'll have a blast.
