I can't help but think a 996tt or GT3 might be tooo capable to be 'fun' on the street. I love my 964- while hardly 'slow', it's slow enough that it's not insane to put my foot into it a bit here and there.

OTOH - if you don't like the GT3 or 996tt, you should have no problem selling it for your buy-in price. The values are pretty stable and in fact seem to be on the rise.

no.. porsche did a very good job of intergrating the impact bumpers to an old design.. certainly a lot better than Fiat, triumph, or even the domestics

That's not a turbo, though. Unless there is a really rare version out there that comes without the side air intakes. And the narrow body. And the non-turbo steering wheel...

One thing that I come back to is that fact that you live in the middle of some great roads that are well kept from what I remember.

M3 is a great option!

That said, Get the one that you can do the most with. 964. You can do the maintenance yourself, you won't have to deal with expensive car computers, and it has a much more "classic" looking shape.

That $15-20k you will save will get you, your wife, and your porsche to the 'Ring and back! Go at the right time of year and roll Monaco into it...

I do. Tons of mountain roads that are great fun in a slow-ish car. And most of them are in pretty decent shape.

If you look at the listing, the "Trim" is listed as Turbo S - that's where my comment came from.

TBH the only M3 I'd be interested in would be an E30 M3 and I don't think that's going to fly. Plus, given that they are pretty much the same money as a C3.2/964 I'd rather have the Porsche.

I was actually planning to look at a C3.2 over the weekend, but it looks like the snow storm over the Sierra Nevada has taken care of that one. Unfortunately the car is on the other side of the mountains...

We've done the "911 in Europe" with the one that was just sold, that's been to Switzerland, Germany, France, Amsterdam and a bunch of other places...
