This is the great new interior?
Never mind that they're encouraging driver inattention, but how boring can you get? Some will call it cool. Some call it edgy. Some will call it minimalistic and say that it harkens to mid-century modern. I call it cold, sterile and unimaginative. Suddenly Audi interiors are positively Baroque. Bland anyone?
Is that an official picture? That steering wheel is the ugliest thing I have ever seen.
Been driving a Model Y for the last two weeks. Quickest car I have ever driven, way quicker than my M4 with the competition package.
I am sold.
I mean...it's basically this with a stupid steering wheel. They've just updated it to match the 3 interior styling. Which is not to say I'm a fan of it...but it's not anything new.

None of this bothers me except for the lack of some discrete buttons for critical HVAC & Radio controls. Tesla has already gotten in trouble for something similar.
I know govt. oversight is not popular on this board, but I hope the NHTSA steps in and bans purely touch-screen interfaces. They are unsafe.
There's a LOOOOOOOOONG way to go until movies can be shown on the center stack.
Other than that, it's pretty boring. Reminds me of the styling transition from the 60's to the 70s. Bla.
I don't like it. I don't like touch screens in cars. As much as I like EV's, I am not a fan of Tesla at this point
The Model 3 interior is actually really well laid out and the touchscreen is a big step up from a mass of buttons. It suits my minimalist tendencies perfectly. I mean, look what I did to the Targa Miata...
And you can watch Netflix in a Tesla when it's parked.

Yup, my mother in law watches Netflix every time she supercharges.

I prefer these "supercharges":
SO.....
Are there two rows of LEDs on the accelerator pedal, and a "Turbo Boost" button that somehow makes the car go airborne?
You know, there is a worn spot on every one of my steering wheels. It's right were that wheel doesn't have a rim. Hard pass for me and thats before you get to the tv in the dash. I despise touch screens.

I mean... it does a <9s 1/4. How can you not like it?
edit. besides that steering wheel.
I don't see how that is going to be offered though. I assume they will have a round wheel.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
I prefer the look of a touchscreen over a ton of buttons generally but I much prefer to operate buttons.
If only there was some sort of compromise. Something EV, with the performance of the Tesla, but from someone that's been making cars long enough to develop them properly.
Maybe someday. :)

Agreed, cars should have controls with texture that you can feel and operate without taking your eyes off the road.
And they make laws about cell phone use but having everything in you car controlled via a touch screen with multiple sub menus is ok. (I happen to agree with the cell phone laws).
