And to answer my own question it looks like they did not.

Well... in the US they didn't.

Just noticed the $2900 price in the OP. Hell... I can't really argue with that... not much risk there.

The 3.0 had more like 220 hp than 265. It's a regular old Ford Duratec 3.0 ala Ford Taurus.

Never seen one b4, for $2900 how could you go wrong?

I want one sorta bad. Luxury Marque wagons are a high note for me.

IIRC the heads are different, Jag-specific. Makes finding a used engine a pain.

Actually, I think I was a bit off with my numbers (memory is not what it use to be). I know I read 265 somewhere but from Wiki I found the following:

3.0-litre V6 petrol
2001–2009
2,967 cc (181.1 cu in) V6
89.0 mm × 79.5 mm (3.50 in × 3.13 in)
231 PS (170 kW; 228 hp) @ 6,800
279.3 N·m (206 lbf·ft) @ 3,000
5-speed manual, 5-speed automatic

So more like 228 & 206.
Where as the 2.5l is 191 and 180. No wonder those feel so bad with an auto trans.

I imagine the 3.0 cars are pretty pleasant. It was a pretty good power/weight for a family car back then, before everyone and their grandma's midsize car had 270+hp.

I really like the 3.0 motor. It works very well with the car and the gearing is also really good. With the AWD it is interesting as you don't get the sensation of the car squatting and then taking off it just kind of goes. I describe it as if you are engaging the warp drive. No drama you just go and the next thing you know you are well over the legal limit. It is one of those cars that you really don't have any sensation of speed in.

I was looking through some old photos and found this one. It is my car taken last summer.

I really miss that car. I actually found it up for sale in NH (since they don't need a title up there). Looks like after it was totaled it went up for auction and someone got it. In the CL ad they show the car and it still has the exact same damage that it had when it was totaled in their photos. They want $1500 for it. I know that car is bent in the rear and the suspension pick up points were damaged to the point of not being fixable. It made the car do the macarena dance at speeds over 40 mph.

You are a bad influence . 106k and they would like $3100 more dollars. AWD, duratec and wagon ticks one more box than a focus wagons I have been looking at.

If i gave a e36m3 about these, I'd be wondering if an svt manual swap would be relatively plug and play.

Who am I kidding, I'll be on cl by the end of tonight, I love weird pimpy sports wagons. Needs more low.

They made these with manuals. Not super common but not unobtanium either. It would be a bolt in if you wanted to do the swap.

I know the sedan was sold with a manual, but the wagon too?

Don't know if the wagons had a manual. They had a diesel and I think that had a manual option. But that was a ROW option.

I just did a search on Auto Trader nationwide and looks like no manual wagons.

So the red car is a no go. There were reasons why it was at the low end of the price range. I was a little disappointed and put the search on hold.

Tonight decided to look at A6 4.2 cars as I have a want for one of these for another reason that is just under a year away. Anyway I stumbled on this.

It is the color interior and exterior I have been looking for. It is a sport optioned car. Less miles than the red car. It is only about three hours away. I am calling them tomorrow.

It is in the middle of the price range for these cars so no real bargain but it really is exactly what I have been looking for. I am really excited. I hope this works out.

Hold out for a 3.0 Sport with a manual. I don't recall seeing any wagons with a manual, but I haven't found any evidence to suggest they don't exist.

I am tempted to look for an X type again myself. I really liked it when i had it as well.

Unless the wagons are different from the sedans, the sport should have body colored trim and the mesh grill from an appearance perspective. Not sure if the wagon is different.

No clue but great info. I also want to know if the 100k service has been done. This car is about 5k short of it but the dealer cost for it is some real money and I am going to use it as a bargaining chip. The next one is have the fluids been changed in the trans, transfer case, and the dif. If not I will use that as well. Like I said earlier the service manual initially says that they are lifetime but if you read the next paragraph in the manual it should be changed every 30-40k. I did it in my last jag and it was about $150 for amsoil products. OE Jag stuff (non synthetic) is closer to $250. Changing the transfer oil us a real pain. The best way I found is to remove both half shafts. Then you have to pull the shaft that connects them that runs through the transfer case and you can then add the new fluid through the passenger side output shaft hole. If you try and pull the shaft with out pulling the drivers side half shaft you will damage a seal in the trans that keeps the oil in the trans out of the transfer case. You have to remove a snap ring off the shaft on the drivers side and then slide the shaft out the passenger side. The dealer way is to drop the motor and trans and transfer case as a unit.

I actually want an auto for this car. It is my DD. Manual for the track for sure but driving around I Boston traffic from job to job it is auto all the way. Also as autos go these are decent units.
