We've got the 318ic in my profile for sale for... $7500? We'd probably sell it for that. Not really for sale, but if someone wanted to pay us for it, we'd probably let go of it. I was thinking that we weren't getting any bites cause we priced it too high (cause we don't really want to sell it), but apparently I was wrong:

These people have to be mentally insane. I just don't even know what to say.

Wow.. I thought it would be some ludicrous low miles or something, nope, 114k. Just wow.

That's a well known dealer. They find amazing BMW's and list them at amazing prices. They've been at it for so long that it must work.

They make their business practice work somehow.

If I had money to blow and wanted a pristine M5, I would go to them right away. Turnkey cars are always nice.

Mob front. Sell it for $3500, report income as $19500 based on ad. Or something.

Autotrader is a joke these days. I have my Dodge Dakota for sale for about 20% less than KBB or NADA and I have had three luke-warm bites in a month. People put crap on autotrader and ask twice what its worth? How does anything sell?

I guess when you are selling to wealthier people, you naturally inflate the price, maybe?

I think their cars are all in exceptional condition, no excuses, no "everything works except x" and no "rust free except y." There's a lot of value in that for someone with a lot of money and no time. It's not overpriced if they can do it successfully for years, obviously.

Go check their web site and see what they are asking for E30 M3s.

They have multiple examples priced north of $70k.

I saw a 924 that a dealer listed for $10,000 last year.

Nothing fancy about it, just a used 924.

Has noone noticed the conspicuous absence of actual transaction prices on there? Or on ANY retail site? It's in their interests to purport that all the things they sell are worth more than they actually are. It doesn't mean they sell for the asking prices. That 318 would probably sell in the high 4 figures to the right person. The only people who have a chance to buy it for what it's worth are people who have enough money to be seriously interested AND actually call and talk to them. It seems to me like the goofy list price is just a way to filter out gullible people with no money. And how many of us have called and asked about that car? My guess is zero. Mission accomplished.
