A check of the ice on lake Algonquin in Wells NY shows that there will be enough ice to start the 2018 season.

I really need to bring the rally car up and do this at some point.
Rally car is fully caged, but ALSO street legal (as all stage rally cars are). So would it qualify for street-legal class?
Anyone up there have a set of studded tires on e30 wheels for rent? ;)

I will loan you a set of hakka 8 on 15" 4x100 honda wheels if you make the trek. Let me know a few days in advance.
Your rally car would be fine.
Here is a video of a rally car in the Street legal 4wd class.

For the past three years, I’ve had an ice racer ready to go but, alas no ice. This year, early ice but, alas no car.
Hah, I know both of the Subies in that video :)
Cool, will see what I can do. It's a long haul from here so need to see if the budget and logistics can swing it!

Well, mother nature took a hit. No races this week end due to warm temps and rain. It will turn colder on Sat. but not enough time to rebuild good ice, so we are looking forward to next week. Jan. 21.
This is what my dad ran back in from about 77/76 to the mid 80s or so in the old edmonton light car club ice dice series. 1966 corvair 500 95 hp powerglide. Won a couple championships before the club made some rules changes that didn’t allow them to play anymore. One was a liscence plate and insurance rule as my dad was only using it fir this and taking it to the ices on the trailer behind the motorhome. Ran bfg all season br60-13 radial ta tires. The original bench seat was removed and he replaced it with a valour split bench seat from a 75 Chrysler Córdoba.
In reply to Blaise :
Since Street Legal does not require a roll bar you are good to go.
We have had open tops race ever since we started ice racing. Never had one get upside down.

Great!
I'm hoping to bring some friends with miatae with me from down here in Philly. Unfortunately my Pirelli winters are a step down from a Blizzak or X-ice, but it's what I've got.
