It's a nice piece for sure, and it should be extremely capable since it appears to be the roadgoing version of the GT3 car.   You're right, this is another level on top of what a C7 ZR1 is.  Not much "base" Mustang left though. Do they build the GT3 cars from a body in white or just a tub?

Can I buy the rear transaxle DCT to swap into a 944?

I suppose the GTD nameplate isn't as common to some as it is others but this what the first thing that came to mind

I like the car very much. It always tickles me when American manufacturers take the shackles off their designers for a bit.

That said, I can't get "Green Toad" out of my mind.

It's like Multimatic asked "Wanna make another GT?"

Ford: "No, do something with the Mustang."

Bespoke transaxle deserves bespoke coolers:

Cool. But the name is confusing? GTD is the pro am IMSA class running GT3 spec cars.

And those racecars are pretty tame compared to this thing.

I have a feeling that Porsche would be annoyed if Ford also sold a car called a GT3.

I also have a feeling that a sizeable percent of these will be sold in Germany... so this would be the GT-Drei?  I'm spitballing, here.

My conclusion for this- they found a way to make the V8 to work in the F150.  Without the truck, the v8 for the mustang doesn't exist.

My assumption is that this is a supercharged Voodoo.

Probably wrong, here, but the twin clutch trans at least means that they can more easily isolate the drivetrain from the cabin, with no need for a mechanical linkage to anything.

Well the actual racecar that Multimatic will produce is literally called the "Mustang GT3" which will race in the "GTD" class. And here we have the "GTD" road car that isn't legal for GT3/GTD competition. So I was confused. When I saw the headline I thought, "Wait, haven't we already seen this?"

I think I'll call it the "Super Mustang" lol.

It really does fulfill super car fantasies on multiple levels. Not only is it basically a road legal racecar and not just an upgraded road car, but it's a showcase of what those racecar builders can do when freed from the limits of class restrictions. And I think that's awesome.

It doesn't really matter that it's a significantly different motor- the fact that the plant churns out 5.0l NA 4v V8s means that a specialized V8's have someplace to be made.  Which is kind of a good thing- a project I was working along with was going into the V8, so maybe it works this time.  Or someone figured out how to finally schedule a shift schedule to make sure the V8 is running in it's best BSFC window.

Shots fired at the current GT3 RS but with more HP the Mustang should be quicker. Maybe we will see a GT2 RS by then to go head to head with it. Hopefully we see a lap of the Nordschleife!

I am surprised at that price point and what the car is based on (a race car) that it doesn't come with centre-lock wheels.

That's not a bespoke transaxle, it looks to be the same Tremec out of the C8.

I assume someone in the aftermarket is already working on a body kit to make your regular Mustang GT look like the GTD.

Am I the only one struggling to figure out the serpentine belt routing from the alternator?

I'm assuming there is another pulley or something hidden behind the water pipe?

I traced this:

I thought I was off, but it does look like the alternator is on a different plane from the other accessories:
