Could that cause an overboost condition due to the incorrect orientation of the exhaust cam?
Long story short, my ej207 STi motor in the rally wrx is fairly unhappy, but it'll still peg 25+psi (I removed the exhaust after the catless downpipe to make sure I hadn't melted the cat).
Any suggestions?
Edit-
I should clarify its setup for 22-24 and we're hitting close to 30 with or without the EBC installed.
SOHC (at the heads)? I don't think it would cause an overboost situation as the exhaust and intake valves would both be either retarded or advanced together
I had an over boost on a 4g63 I could not figure out. Ended up being off one tooth on the exhaust cam, it is worth a look to remove it from the list of possibilities.

Yes. Ignition timing could mess you up too, if it's too late.
Just to be sure the boost and poor running aren't two unrelated issues, I'd check that the wastegate is opening at the right point. (You could just hook up the reference line to a regulated air line and make sure it opens at 22 psi, or whatever you want to run)

Thats a good idea! However, the car still makes poor power while spooling, so maybe they are two seperate issues. I will definitely take a look.
Subaru's are notorious for jumping a tooth is my understanding. Just trying to understand what would be causing it. The car feels choked, which is why I removed the exhaust, but no difference.

Hmm it can be, well actually it depends, in a way if the timing went retard over boost can be achieve and surely will damage the engine.
