Picking this up on Saturday....

It will be my wife's DD in time. runs and drives...it will get a mild restro. Engine swap and a bunch of modern bits.

It popped up only 20 minutes from home. Hard to pass up. More pics and details when I pick it up.

I like the looks of this! Congrats on the new Amazon. What powerplant were you thinking?

Nice! Be glad the Tunachuckers didn't see it first.

Not sure on powerplant... I have an extra 4.8L LS engine so maybe that if it fits. I found a build with one in a p1800 which is pretty much the same as the amazon....

It will have to be converted from a manual to automatic as my wife says no manual...she has tried but it just doesn't jive with her.

So.... LSx/4l60e....sr20...bmw m42 w/auto. The LSx with Drive by cable is a plus because cruise is really simple to make work.

V8's are hard in the Amazon because of the upper control arm mounts. I think a high powered 4 or torquey I6 would be sweet. You're going to have to go to a cell or modify the stock tank to run FI.

Man, I'd love one of those for a DD. Nice score.

DD it as is - those engines were fine for DD use. With about 10" in the rear and 6" in the front drop, a limiting strap on the front and about 1" of camber plate on the front control arms, you'll be totally fine. Love that car. The wagon is the best of them.

Why not turbocharge a 960 6-cylinder.

Keep it all Volvo.

Good score!

GRM did an Amazon project car a while back, try to find the articles. I looked but couldn't find an electronic version.

It was a well turned out, very DDrivable car that was pleasing to look at. Nothing radical, just old time mechanical sense and research.

I would keep it stock-ish.

I tried buying an Amazon wagon a few years ago - I had a B230FT ready to go in (it's not quite as easy as one would think) but the car was just way too rusty.

Hey no fair! I'm looking for a sedan or wagon Amazon in the Detroit area and never even saw this pop up. Nice score! I'd love a nice manual trans Amazon to drive around. What a beauty.

Normally i would say F2T (and i still will), but the B230FT is probably much easier, and just as awesome.
