In reply to mad_machine:

I didn't go for the stretched look.....the person before me didn't intend on it either. Just didn't want to cut the sheet metal and add on flares(looks stupid)

Well, I went to look at another one this morning. It's a 99 with 133k kms. They are asking $4500. It's got some rust bubbles just above the rear bumper on the back. It's also got the airbag light on and the AC isn't cold. Other than that, it's really clean. The interior is black leather and perfect. It also doesn't have a sunroof which for me is a bonus. I offered $3500. We will see. The guy selling it, is also a firefighter, so maybe that will help

I'd fix the rust asap......and you lucky bugger.....I wish my ti didn't have the hole in the roof.

Anyone on here ever have a ti with the "California Roof"? I've always thought that would be either a really nice and interesting car, or something horrible to own.

the California roof is interesting.. but fragile and expensive to repair when the gears that power it strip. (not if.. when) You cannot get them seperate from a whole new mechanism... not that I am sure somebody here could not fabricate them.

They are also noisy at highway speeds and make the car flexible due to the huge hold in the roof (it replaces most of the roof) the regular sunroof is superior in everyway except for the amount of light and air it lets into the car.

Thanks for the info on the CA roof. I almost never see them for sale, must not have been many takers back in the day. I really always liked the big, fabric Webasto sunroofs that many 1960s and 1970s European cars ended up with, but this sounds like a really terrible version of that.
