Replacing a ecu connector and related harness in my 99 528i. This particular connection also has the canbus wires in it.
Will using crimp butt splice connectors cause issues? Will adding an inch or two of wire?
I have NEVER dealt with canbus.

Ignore. Figured out how to depin the connection. Damned germans are crafty how the design connectors. Why cant they be obvious like weatherpack?
Ive been half tempted to name the car Adolf......
Hopefully it's on the downhill to driver status now.
There's a tsb to move that allows the inner connector to come out of the outer. Then theres a two stage release of the metal terminal from the inner plastic.
For future reference, CAN isn't very sensitive at all.
Adding length or connections will be fine as long as they're solid.

i should have taken pix of the connector disassembly steps when i did the E60 TPM fix. Since I already knew how to get the connector apart, i didn't document those steps.
