1992 Nissan Sentra (b13) positive battery cable. I cannot find one that'll fit. I have the normal top-post battery, but it has a lead that clamps together and is hooked to the clamp where it goes on the battery terminal. The clamp on my cable is broken, and can't be tightened up any further. Since it slides around on it's own, I have to open the hood each time I want to start the car. This isn't convenient.

It looks like this setup. I'll get a picture of mine later.

I need a solution.

Yeah, sorry. I need some pics. I read your post twice, but when I'm on GRM, anything that I read that isn't 100% clear just makes me picture a miata or an LS1 floating around with unicorns and Care Bears. I don't know why.

I'm confuzzled. You can't find a terminal that will fit the cable?

Right, remove old clamp, install a marine application clamp (personal preference) and solder in.

And don't be so NEGATIVE!

I've got an even easier solution. Get a soft brass or copper washer, bend it slightly, and fit it inbetween the post and the clamp to take up the excess space. You may, or may not, need to use a new screw & nut when you tighten it. Its a temporary fix, but it may work so well that you never have to think about it again.

Also, if it comes down to truly needing new cable end terminals, Napa sells terminals that are more like your original stamped steel terminals than the clunky lead ones in the pic above.

Just replace the terminals and be done with it, don't even bother trying to repair/shim it. Shimming might work for awhile but will fail eventually or you'll have to pull the cable and the shim will fall out. I used one of those big old ugly terminals in my pickup and it has been working fine for a few years so far.

Every Wal Mart has these hanging near the batteries.

I think his problem is the large knobbly red fuse-box-o-crap that's mounted to the positive cable at the same point as the clamp. If you cut the clamp off, there's no good way to reattach said crap. I went through that with an 88 Stanza. i ended up screwing a small sheetmetal screw into the space between the clamp and post. Sucked. Ugly. Worked till the car died.

If you take it to shop, they will find a way. The only difference between that and doing it yourself, is not giving up so easily and how much your money is worth to you.

I knew I'd missed something. Medicine is wonderful for coughs, but not clarity when writing. That red-thingy (in the pic, I have a simliar wart on my positive cable) is the issue. No cable I've found has a proper setup. It looks like winging it is my next option.
