Hey guys, I'm building a Festiva for the $2008 Challenge and my options for a performance clutch which the car will likely need are limited and expnsive. Is there a way to make an OEM replacement part clamp harder? I don't care about a stiff pedal or how long it will last, I just need to put the power down for two events. Any ideas?

Find a clutch rebuilder, and get him to put in either a heavier diaphram, or 2 of them. I've done it many times. It works.

If you machine a step into the flywheel such that the mounting face and the friction face are at slightly different levels, wouldn't that provide greater clamp load? You'd be walking a fine line between being able to disengage the clutch or not, it'd take some measuring and such, but it's an idea that would be cheap to free. I'd have to think about it more, but it seems like it'd offer a slight improvement.
