So friend of mine is an enabler and sent me a link to a CL ad. The ad states that the owner would like to trade for a Civic. I happen to have a Civic that I would consider trading for the AE-86. Civic is a 1997 EX 5spd that's stock aside from some suspension mods that's probably worth about the same as the Hachi.

That doesn't have the engine you're looking for. Also, they can rust something fierce, so check for rust very carefully.
I'm wondering what motor that is.... wonder if it's a 3tc. If it is.... that's pretty awesome.
Yeah not a ton of info in the ad... Seems underpriced for being a "florida car no rust" being sold in the rustbelt.
Do you really want a car with an engine swap by someone who writes an add like that? I wouldn't, especially not for $2500.
that is a TC... not sure if its 2TC, or 3TC... but that is a TC cam cover
Why a "T" transplant is, can be weird. The TC engine series is a rear sump oil pan, the 4AG is a front sump oil pan. The oil pan location determined(in the E7 Corolla) whether you had rack and pinion steering( "A" engine), or conventional worm and roller steering("T" engine)
I'm not sure if this person installed the older, slower worm and roller, or managed to fit the TC and keep the rack and pinion....
TC can be great engines... the take to boost VERY well!!!
He wants too much... Other than that I love these cars, pure simplicity, easy to work on, and a blast to drive

Make sure it is not a scam. I know he says it is a Florida car but it has a FL Temp Tag on it and the plants in the background are from Fl not Chicago.

Ae86 's are overpriced and I have no idea why he went with that engine swap. It is more common in earlier corollas and a 3tc can be boosted like crazy. Would you want that swap? If not, factor that in as I don't see a huge market for it as it sits if you are not happy with the car. That said, they are awesome cars.
You just need to do som searching there are still people willing to sell them for appropriate prices, that car in my opinion is not priced well
Sorry. That's not overpriced for around here, under the assumption that the underpinnings of the body aren't Bondo based.
I'd pay $2500 for that no questions asked if it doesn't have rust, if that IS a 3TC, and it ran well.
