Crown Royal shift boot and a Corona shift knob.
Still working on getting the knob to be permanent. The shifter has a diameter of ~8mm and the inside of the Corona beer tap handle is ~8.6mm on the inside, no idea what the threads are on the tap handle.
Worth pursuing or am I crazy for mocking it up?
I don't like it, but it's not my car. Whatever floats your boat, or in this case I guess, whatever shifts your knob.
It makes me smile, but I probably wouldn't do it to my own car. I will say I'm impressed how well it fits.
This is a thing I don't get. I've seen this sort of thing, and all I can ever think is "that's a lousy shape for a shift knob" and "that's going to make a great impression on the next cop who wants to talk to me curbside." That lime wedge may be the exact opposite of what I'd consider a useful shift knob shape.
But I am not you, and you should not let me tell you what you want. Find out what the threads are on the shifter (either get a thread gauge, or grab a few nuts from the hardware store in the range and see what fits), and get a threaded insert for the tap handle to match. I expect you'll need to drill out the tap handle's existing threads and install a threaded insert to match the shifter. I don't suspect you're going to find a threaded adapter that's metric Opel on the inside, 3/8"-16 (likely tap handle, at least in the U.S.; not certain what you've got there) on the outside, and wafer-thin to fit the small difference in diameters.
Also, Corona Light? Like Corona isn't close enough to iffy water?
is a better idea than this at least.
I've often thought about the crown royal shift boot, but cops probably get the wrong idea. As for the tap, if you like the beer or how it shifts, go for it. I'd be looking for something with a more rounded top, but that's personal preference.
If you're 19 and looking for Instagram likes, go for it.
Otherwise this kind of stuff is up there with ill-fitting wheels, neon lights, bosozuku exahust pipes and oil coolers, etc.
COOL....IF that green lime on the shifter is a nitrous button.
I've recently been thinking an old roughed up baseball would make a sweet shifter knob. Those things have a great size and feel, they just scream to be gripped.

You do you, man. If you like it or it makes you laugh, then do it. When I ordered a metallic purple rollbar for my car, everyone was skeptical or looked at me like I was crazy. I ended up loving it, and reaction has been mostly positive, although I've gotten a few old guys who have told me they "don't get the color" or "it's a bit much"
The coolest part is that it is in an Opel. I think 1900. PLEASE show more pictures!
Depends, is it a Toyota Crown or a Toyota Corona? No pun = no cool.
I like the crown royal bag made shift boot, one of those changes I wanted to do to my own car when I buy an inexpensive manual car.
The shift knob looks like it would be fine if the vehicle is used as a cruiser, kinda neat really.
Horrible idea - a Crown Royal shift boot needs to be paired with a Canadian beer tap, like Molson.
Are you delusional? Probably but that's why you should do it. Especially if you like it. Keep a rubber boot under the cloth Crown boot for sealing purposes though. Beer tap isn't good for fast shifting though but it's your car. Do what you want. Not my taste but not my car either, I do appreciate individuality. As long as it is safe. And second about the more pics of the Opel.
Well since there is a small gathering asking for more Opel pics, I'm sure I've posted them here before but I'll add them again!
Presenting a 1978 Opel Ascona B in 'Sage Green' outfitted with the 1.2S* OHV motor (idk what the star means but it's different according to the interwebs) and a 4-speed with the 'Sport' shifter. This isn't a racecar, sports car or fun driver to me, just a cruiser and something that looks cool that wasn't really available in the USA. I need to pass TUV so this'll come off for that but once I pass I'll be fine till next year. Base agreements are a little funny.

The other day I drove behind a small mall and one of the hairdresser ladies was out back vaping and instantly I thought it would be funny if they made penis shaped vaping things for the ladies. I rarely see women vaping - usually dudes
So I googled “penis vaping”. Wouldn’t you know........
This needs to be on a yota corona.

I wonder if that would cut down on car theft?

Having a stick shift usually does anymore.....
I had a Miller Lite shift knob in my VW Rabbit when I was 16.
Now that I am a bit past twice that age, I have stock shift knob in my WRX and a white cue ball style (with proper shift pattern) in my F250.
Are you 16?

These gimmicks done to the car have all been done by old guys. The vodka overflow bottle, the kraken windshield washer fluid container and the beer tap handle shifter were all on expensive restored classic cars. None of them are original ideas, Tucson rodder days is where I got them from.
So what's with the teenager comments?

Men probably bought 90% of those if we're being honest here.
Wonder if the adage "that nothing's gayer than a straight Marine" somehow applies to this.
One thing I learned recently from a friend in law enforcement is that the crown bags are frequently used to store marijuana and paraphilia, so there may be an additional negative assumption if you get stopped by the PoPo...
And yes, if this is common knowledge you can all have a good laugh at how little I know about drugs...
