So I POR15ed the tank in 2010. It has sat a lot of the past 6 years, so I cant expect much, but i really hoped to see zero rust when I cracked the tank open to fix my fuel sending unit.

Original from 2010

The question is, is this too much rust or am I just being anal?

The screen on the pump was orange and dusty.

I'm really annoyed because I spent extra and bought the complete kit that included all of the prep chemicals and it still failed. I've found that I'm not the only one who has had this problem. A company called caswell actually has a product specifically for failed POR-15 tanks.

(I don't think they sell it in the US)

In the U.S. they recommend a paint stripper with Methylene Chloride.

I think Caswell will be getting my business from here on out.

MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) will make short work of 99% of tank linners on the market the only one I know of that it will not strip once cured is Caswells. It all I will use I've done over 25 tanks mostly vintage motorcycle tanks.

MEK smells real nice, too.
