While perusing for something cool to buy, I found this https://www.ebay.com/itm/224475609932?hash=item3443c9fb4c:g:6UIAAOSweDNe8Tgl
It's a Matra-Simca Bagheera (yeah, I've never heard of it either) and it's a 3-seater like a McLaren F1! You'd be the star of every Cars & Coffee!
The successor, the Matra Murena is really pretty.

It's also much less likely to be held together by the paint on the steel frame.
Bagheeras are notoriously rust prone and you basically don't see it until you check underneath or the fibreglass body panels fall off.
Murenas have have galvanised frames IIRC and the 2.2L has a lot more oomph.
Very 70s seats, wasn't the McLaren center seating?
Growing up our neighbor had a Matra Murena. This was in '83 or so, I throught it was a really cool car back then.
In reply to 914Driver :
It was. I think the Bagheera was the first mid engines car that could seat three people, though.
As a kid back in the UK, a teacher at my high school had one, I bet he got fed up of wiping greasy finger and nose prints off it.

(CHOKE!) At $14.5K I would get a running Lotus Europa. Much better support, not nearly so strange, and more rapidly rising values.
If you find a running Europa for that price please forward it to me!
Years ago I read a build thread of a guy 13B swapping a Bagheera. I'm sure that thread is lost to the universe though. I've always liked these.

Thanks! I'd really prefer an S2(and one that's at least somewhat setup for autox), but at that price I sent an email request for interior pics & more details. Based on the mileage & price I bet it needs a full top-en overhaul.
I'd googled for Europas for sale about a month ago, but most were in Europe.

I know Matra from their Le Mans racers and just know their road cars are odd balls. They also made one called the Djet which looks like a weird Alpine A110.
BTW, this car has been for sale for a while. I remember seeing it when I was looking for an inappropriate track car.
