Just got this release from General:

FORT MILL, S.C. (August 24, 2018) – General Tire is introducing its latest tire into the G-MAX™ family of ultra-high performance (UHP) tires, the new G-MAXTMJustice. Designed for law enforcement fleets and high-speed pursuit applications, the G-MAX™ Justice provides a durable tire with technologies that offer precise handling, all-season traction and a longer tread life.

“With the success of the G-MAX™ series of ultra-high performance tires, it made perfect sense that the next iteration of it would be a pursuit-class tire,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire. “It was a natural progression to provide our law enforcement agencies across the United States with a tire that we believe sets a new benchmark in the segment.”

Manufactured in the United States, the G-MAXTM Justice is born from the G-MAXTMAS-05 and G-MAXTM RS, and includes SmartGrip Technology, which offers a strong center rib for crisp steering response and stable shoulder blocks for maximum grip. The silica-rich all-season compound and siping ensures wet and snow grip that offers up to 15% better wet braking performance*.

StabiliTreadTM Technology gives the G-MAXTM Justice a wider footprint and provides longer tread life– up to 15% better than a leading competitor**.

G-MAXTM Justice will be available in six sizes, fitting the Chevrolet Caprice PPV, Impala Police and Tahoe PPV, the Dodge Charger Pursuit, Ford’s Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility. The G-MAXTM Justice is scheduled for availability beginning in October, 2018.

*Whew*. I was afraid it was going to be a CL ad for a '74 Monaco cop car at a price and location I couldn't just ignore...

Jake: What's this?

Elwood: What?

Jake: This car. This stupid car. Where's the Cadillac?

Jake: The Caddy, where's the Caddy?

Elwood: The what?

Jake: The Cadillac we used to have. The Bluesmobile.

Elwood: I traded it.

Jake: You traded the Bluesmobile for this?

Elwood: No, for a microphone.

Jake: A microphone? Okay, I can see that. But what the hell is this?

Elwood:This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect City police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving them away.

Jake: Well, thank you, pal. The day I get out of prison, my own brother picks me up in a police car.

With the passing of Aretha I was thinking of all the great people in that movie - blues legends and musicians - literally a group of the finest.

My dad and grandfather used to go to Maxwell Street on Sunday morning - a few short years ago I was given his toolbox and I found some Snap-on sockets in it.  Since my grandfather worked 30 years for Sears it was a given we bought Craftsmen tools.  He told me he bought them on Maxwell Street.  The sign in the video that says "cheat you fair" is pretty much how it was - buyer beware.

And those polish sausages cooking in the video?  Still a big deal in the Chicago area.

They were. And I want a polish right now.  I also want some bootleg cassette tapes and a porcelain zebra.

Two of my favorite scenes are when they jump the bridge and drive through the mall.  Both places are near when I lived. I went over that bridge hundreds of times and if you look out past the car when their waiting  as the bridge goes up,  there's a little fish shop.  On Fridays during Lent my parents would go there to buy either some fish or shrimp for diner.

As for the shopping mall. I used to shop there in the 70's. It closed a short time before the movie was filmed so not much had to be done. The whole place is now torn down and part of the land is used by the city of Harvey. IL.
