On top of his obsession, he makes E36 M3 up to support his obsession.
Then on the jaguarforums people correct him and he still sticks to his self made facts, not as condescending as he does in GRM but that man is consistent.
I, myself have been accused of thinking I'm always right... I would not say something if I did not believe it to be true. But I am open minded enough to look at someones differing opinion, and will admit I'm wrong, if I see the "proof." Frenchyd just makes up more "facts"
My Father (although right about most things) was actually worse! I've used the encyclopedia to prove my side - and me and the encyclopedia were BOTH wrong. Once HE said something, He was right, no matter what.

Anyway, I really miss when Frenchy and SVreX used to go back and forth about construction. I learn so much, I just couldn't tell if I was learning correct information. And that's the problem, some newby is going to read this E36 M3 and interpret false information as true.
And then there's the GM Atlas is a copy of the Jag i6.
Sorry to rob your joy, but I'm not stooping to that again. No fun.
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
Lol thank you
Guys! Guys! Guys! (Girls too)
Lets try to change the subject.
Stampie and Frenchy are great, fun, commentators.
We don't need either of them to be relegated to forum never-never land!
Just my $.02 worth.

I have not yet seen a quote that explicitly stated the standard Jag V12 made 61 more horsepower than specifically even the most powerful (and rarest) factory hot-rodded 454 variant, but that's what you're effectively claiming... Care to share where I missed it, or are you ranting against something that was never actually said?
Yeah, I think we are gonna have to say that's a rant against something that was never said. It came from this comment in the Studebaker thread:
frenchydsaid:
From the bottom the engine looks like a top fuel with 4 extra cylinders.
Stock it's very powerful for the time. Stone stock it made 61 more horsepower than a Chevy 454 ( with American pollution specs it still made 32 more HP than the 454 )
Looks like a pretty strong distortion of what was said. While Frenchy did not specifically rule out the rarest factory hot-rod variant, he sure didn't reference it. He made it clear he was referencing a stone stock Jag, and never said "ALL 454's". It's reasonable to assume he meant the standard issue ones.
I agree with your point.
But it doesn't matter. No winners in this argument. EVAR.

This is quite possibly the weirdest thread on this board.
And that's REALLY saying sumthin!
So I do have a dry sense of humor. About 95% of this thread is me having fun. I love engines. All kinds of engines. I currently own 10 totally different families of engines. If I were building a car to race a Jaguar V12 wouldn't be on my list. If I were building a car to show off an eye candy engine then yeah the Jag V12 would be on the list.
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
I too was going to paste Frenchyd's comment... But I get something different from you.
Taken as words only , and after reading your post, I have to agree... but having experience with how Frenchy likes to distort things to suit his narrative, Stampie had a good point. I would say - based on past experience reading his posts, that he just made up the 61hp difference out of thin air, knowing he could continue to confuse the issue with lots of unrelated information.
I will, as always in the eleventy billion times a v12 jaaaaggg I mentioned, would like to say this.
There's a company called "JagsThatRun" that has literally made it's fortune taking the v12s out and putting in a SBC. No matter what.....that's hilarious
In reply to 03Panther :
Yes, I understand how frustrating that is. I'm no fan of it either.
I don't think it warrants starting a thread apparently intended to insult a forum member. It violates the DBAD rule.

As a relatively new member, I've been meaning to ask someone... Where did the habit some of y'all have of adding extra letters to jag come from?

In my case, from Jeremy Clarkston
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
I'm sure it started (as Stampe said) as humour... but as this shows, it was never going to stay all in fun, so your prolly right!
Also I'd like to add Ive known 3 people with jag v12s.
Also, Ive never known anyone with a running jaaaaggg v12
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
Think he started the thread to steer it out of the Studebaker thread.
In reply to yupididit :
Yep. And I think that was incredibly cool.
Just don't think it was necessary, or added any value to the forum.
In reply to Antihero (Forum Supporter) :
I've driven a 80's XJS that ran great. Was a friends regularly driven car in the late 90's, with average miles. Did need much more expensive maintenance that some of her other cars, but did run nice. Nice smooth power. Nice leather seats... would have made a nice road trip car.
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
I've yet to read the Studebaker thread so I don't know if it was necessary or if it even worked lol

Ironically, 95% of this thread was neither dry nor humorous.

Sorry that I forced you to read it. I'll try not to do that in the future.
Wait, you forced him to read it?

100% agree. Both these guys have contributed a lot to this forum.
The only person that can clear it up is MGuar, but he got banned. Figures.
