I haven't seen it mentioned, but Jay Leno's new show premiers Wednesday night on CNBC (9pm central daylight time, check your local listings.)
I'm looking forward to it. On the other hand, the TV review reporter in the local newspaper said the following about the show:
I had every intention of watching every second of “Jay Leno’s Garage,” a new series in which the former “Tonight Show” host attempts to spread his love of cars to the masses. But despite the inclusion of comedian Tim Allen, there was no real charge in the first couple of segments for those of us who feel autos are good only for transportation and a place to store an extra pair of pants. “If you don’t know why guys like to burn rubber,” Leno says at one point, “stop watching this show right now.” So I did.
Kind of makes you wonder why he even bothered to write that.
Wait What????? Melting a set of tires is great fun. They may not like to do it but I am sure they can understand the fun in it. (Unless they are the "get off my lawn type")
It is kind if like hyper mile drivers. To me it is not fun but I can see the challenge of it and understand that some may find it fun.
Obviously the local reporter is not a car fan.

He must get paid by the word, otherwise why even bother?
I think meet the Kardashians is total crap. Does that mean they will take that off the air?
I will put it on the DVR (Leno's show that is, not the Kardashians)
I just thought of a good show though: Meat the Kardashians. The whole show is people throwing meat at the Kardashians (including that self-important douche Kanye)
I had an entirely different version of Meat the Kardashians in my head.
Oh my!

I'm happy to say I have not watched a single minute of the Kardashians. From an internet headline perspective they all seem to want to do anything for attention!
I think Leno's Garage will probably be alright if it follows the video format from his website.
What are the odds he'll be wearing a Canadian tuxedo in every episode?

I bet he wrote that into the contract.

Had to google that. I was expecting a Carhartt onesie for some reason.
He said he always wears the denim because he never really knows what or when he's going to shoot an update for a segment, or how its going to be edited, so its way easier to just wear exactly the same clothes all the time.
Works for me, says the guy with a drawer full of Wrangler jeans and Dickie pocket tees in navy blue.

In my head they all were.
I have Leno's Garage set to record. This one is titled "American Muscle"
Just watched it. I enjoyed it as did my wife. It's not the silly/crazy stuff like Top Gear, but also not just boring car reviews like Motorweek or something. Overall, well-produced (not surprisingly), as always Leno knows about all the cars he's talking about which are all beautiful. The driving segments were a bit underwhelming (US roads, what can you do...) and as always Leno is a bit cheesy, but no issue there for me.
Also for non-"car guys" there are little pop-up boxes that explain certain things he refers to while talking about the cars.
All in all, not the most exciting show out there but Leno is sincere in his love for cars and it shows. He brings on some interesting friends/guests for short segments (and shows off their cars as well). And the best part is that it doesn't look like he's trying to re-invent the wheel here, but also doesn't look like he's just copying other similar shows (ahem, Top Gear US). Anyhow, I'll watch it again next week for sure.
If I can learn anything from this show, it's already better than 100% of every other car-based show out there (Wheeler Dealers may be the one exception).
Can't wait to see more steam-powered content (fingers crossed).
I saw it. It was good. Far more of a Car Show, then most Car Shows.
A bit cheesy in spots. A bit slow in spots but Jay appears to have some VERY good access to things / people so I think there is some good prospect in it.
I saw it and loved it (Jay Leno, not the Kardashians). Not as technical as the YouTube series but still good
I thought it was a bit goofy and full of fluff. Especially the Tim Allen segment where they both get arrested. Silly nonsense. I really enjoy the episodes of Jay Leno's Garage I watch on line.......this did not have the same feel as those at all. My biggest complaint though was they would air 3 minutes of show and then cut to 5 minutes of commercial. I might be off on the numbers but that's the way it felt.
