Man I hope you guys are up for this, ive been busting my ass getting things ready. Just cut the floor out of the body, going to do as much as i can tonight then go to HF in morning for a 2nd chain fall to lift with. There will stillbe cutting left for anyone ambitious enough to jump in
Want me to lash my cherrypicker to the trailer and bring that over too?
Nah i have one of those. Think we're good.
I got the floor, trunk floor, part of the firewall cut out and figured lots out, just came inside. Tomorrow morning shall be for preparing food and finishing the gantry to lift from.
Also if anyone gets lost call or text please my number is on page 1. From north it's at top of 2nd hill past sleepy hollow on left. From south it's 3 driveways past the flashing high accident area on right. If you see many vehicles that you've seen pics of on here, you are probably at the right place.
Disclaimer from an outside observer: You can't see any of said vehicles from the street because of all of the trees by the road. At least I couldn't. But when you go up the driveway, you're suddenly hit with an aura of GRM-ness.
Man that's a lot of future Challenge metal left on the ground. Who was in charge of picking it up?
Thats mostly dirt. Funny thing is only people that know what body is being used showed up
John welsh, andy(xlr99) and my long time buddy john. I have never had any help let alone 3 other guys. Got much done, not as much as i wanted but had lots of layers of cutting and some unexpected things.
Im still kind of pissed i couldn't make it.
Dang it, I forgot about this. My brother and I went junkyarding.
Quips you would have heard/seen if you'd have been there...
"The cheaper kitty litter works better but this is not bad."
When you break a bolt on a oil pump, you can just remove an oil pump from another LS engine on site.
Bowline knots tied with a square strap are not as easy to untie like they are in a round rope.
"There's chili cheese dip and meatballs inside if you're hungry"
"... I injected it with a butter garlic flavor and added chipotle pepper to the rub. "
My word it was good!
"It should drive just like a__ so it could be possible to just drive it to the event."
"Those sawzall blades suck. These are much better."
"Plasma cutters don't like going through rust. They sort of stop cutting."
Every size of ratcheting wrench on site other than the needed 17mm. 11/16th is about the same as 17mm but no ratcheting 11/16ths either. Too tight to get a socket on.
'So, what's our fire suppression strategy?'
'That rosary needs to remain on the car'
I used the fire suppression device today, worked great. I said I was taking today off but I can't do that. Heading to home derpot for blades in a minute.
Plasma cutter electrode was shot thats why it was cutting like crap on the rusty bits. Today it ate right through them with new cup and electrode. My uncle returned it worse for the wear and should probably have given me the new one he bought when i needed mine back like i did when I borrowed his band saw and used it more than he did.
Turns out the (secret car) is so light i can push it in and out of the garage myself, until i make it stop rolling anyway.
If home derpot has a 17mm gearwrench I'm getting it
Still bummin that I couldn't make it. I feel that an experience was had...
