As the subject says, I just picked up my first non-tractor diesel. A 7.3 2002 E350 (Build thread coming soon)
My question is, what should I do first?
Buy Oakley sunglasses and wear them upside down on the back of my head?
Get 20 inch diameter 20 inch wide Mad Max wheels?
Buy a sticker proclaiming the dominance of Powerstrokes over Cummins for the back glass?
Get some of those pants with bedazzled pockets?
Start bragging about my gas mileage?
Buy one of these shirts?
Help me out guys, you only get 1 shot to do it right!
It is a van. Cover it with bumper stickers from various obscure points of interest, extreme political views (the more handwritten the better), or dirtbike product logos.
Or, if the van is REALLY clean, like it looks like it is taken out of a garage 2 days every three years, put two satellite TV antennas on the roof and a seven to ten digit long alphanumeric sequence in 2" vinyl numbers somewhere unobtrusive.
Change the fuel filters, the oil, and buy a crank position sensor and throw it in the glove box.
Oh, and enjoy the immense amount of low-end torque.
In reply to Toyman! :
....because the engine is dead and buried over 2500
Edit: derp 2002 not 1992. Long discussion of kingpin vs ball joint front end deleted, your van has ball joints
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
If you are turning it over 2500 you are doing it wrong.
You get cool points for the diesel being a van. Is it 4wd? Hook it to a race car trailer and go enjoy a road course that was previously too far away to consider. Throw a couch behind the driver seat in case you get tired on the road.
get a pair of gloves to keep in truck and wear when filling up.

Our E450, same vintage, ate 2 alternators, 1 injector and a CPS in two years of ownership. A spare CPS is a great idea to keep around. It's been years and I forget which tuner we bought(bully dog?), but the tuner was awesome. It provided a 12.5% fuel economy increase(from 8 to 9) and it was able to keep 4th gear on hills longer.
Just make sure you put a custom decal of your instagram name on it.

Came here to say this. Also get a spare IPR sensor and the tool to swap it (harbor freight shower valve tool). Maybe a tuner as well

Here's the accessory you are looking for (maybe NSFW ):
Riff Raff Diesel and the Ford Trucks forum were my go-tos for products and knowledge when I had a Powerstroke so I'll pass along the suggestions

I have a spare trash can. Is that big enough?

Im close enough to Canada I need a "Got Toque" sticker.
Straight pipe it and put 20" XD Rockstars on it? Don't forget at least 4 LED light bars!
