I like it. Pretty sad that the Asians and Europeans continue to develop and evolve the small hot car segment and the domestics are abandoning them in favor of SUVs and trucks. Ahhhh, don't get me started.

My 2018 Elantra GT sport 6 speed(same engine/trans/platform/multilink rear) probably has slightly different tuning but the TC can be fully defeated, the stability control can be defeated enough to make it not impede you unless you are so sideways your going slow.
I really like everything about the way my GT goes about it's business. I can't imagine that the apparently 250 lb weight loss of the Veloster would make it worse. I'm surprised the weight loss is that much though. I've scaled mine at 3050 its doesn't have a sunroof. The Veloster is minus 1 door and a few " of wheelbase I'm surprised it's that much lighter. Not sure if it doesn't have a spare though?

meanwhile, Gas is going up and is gonna keep going up for the foreseeable future.
We recently drove the new Elantra GT but, sadly, it didn't have the stick, big brakes or mulit-link rear suspension. Hopefully one so equipped eventually winds up in our press fleet. I did ask for one--again, you know, for science.
Hyundai/Kia is making a genuine effort to make interesting cars. Good for them for dropping the weight compared to the previous generation car. It might make it the lightest in its segment, only 100lbs more than the soon to disappear Fiesta ST.
That VSM system sounds a bit different, I hope they've calibrated it well. I don't get what manufacturers have against LSDs. :)
Ever since the Type R took gaudy to black belt levels, the Veloster is looking so much better. Too bad the aftermarket traditionally shuns things from Korea
I really do like these. At 23 I'd prefer the Veloster but at 33 I'll take the Elantra GT. My only issue isn't so much with the car, it's more with the typical driver. All of these I see are riced out and beat. Like when the riced out Tiburon owner finally blew up his sweet Plasti dipped Tiburon gt he figured well that car was nice why not a Veloster.

Yeah, it would be cool to see some of these cars at SEMA.

Edit: LSD?
Only two rear seats.

If I have to (and can) turn off nannies to keep the car from cooking brakes during a 20 minute session then I'm not sure how it all applies. Hyundai clearly needs to loan Bob one for One Lap next year. I promise I won't drive it into any walls.
Yeah, we discussed borrowing one for some track work. You know, for science.
Did you tell them you have the worlds biggest Hyundai humper in your ranks? They might know me by name.
Waiting for the N veloster with the 260hp 2.0l and lsd
275 horsepower if you opt for the performance pack!
This kinda pisses me off. Ford says that they can't make money making cars like this, but somehow the Asian car companies are doing it. And the Asians don't have the huge cash cow that is the truck/SUV market to subsidize them.

What does the 55 you like?

Nope, if a stock Subaru is good enough for Travis and Bilko you need to suck it up. Did we ever decide who to call about this? Is David our Hyundai contact now?
I never understood why they didn't borrow a jack and 14mm wrench and remove the rear muffler section. That's what I'd do.
I'm looking forward to driving these. I'm glad that Hyundai showed a bit of restraint with the styling. The proof will be in the chassis dynamics. Hopefully they nailed it!
Same here Joe. I actually really like the colors and the look of it. Hyundai just always seemed to miss the shock valving on their cars. If they nailed that piece then I'd be very interested especially with the LSD.
In reply to bmw88rider :
Shocks/struts are easy enough to change. Most of us do that anyway to be honest. The throttle lag on the first gen cars was what bothered me the most, but that is easily fixed with a tune which would be high on my list of things to do anyway.
