I currently own 4. Just sold the vw last month.
76 Corolla - This car eventually ran mid-14 quarter miles at 100 mph, with a built 11:1 3TC bottom end capped with a ported 2TC head with a Comp cam, over sized valves, dual Weber 40s, equal length header and proper exhaust. With a 4-speed manual and 3.40 differential it ran out of gear 138 mph.

76 Mazda Cosmo
92 Storm GSi
94 Dodge Shadow
2002 Escort

Only the 280Z and the Crammit remained essentially stock, all the others were performance-enhanced to one degree or another. The Mazda Cosmo was a tagged and insured but full-prep ITA race car that was occasionally driven to races instead of trailered (usually trailered).

I lost accurate count at 42 and believe i'm now close to 60. However, every time i bring this up i also mention that about a third of them were parts cars that i never drove or only drove for giggles before parting out. I parted out an F2t Mx6 on Saturday. Never drove that one.
I've never counted... lets see what I can remember in rough order:
88 Pontiac Fiero coupe
94 Saturn SW2
95 Saturn SL1
91 Saturn SL2
94 Saturn SC2
95 Saturn SL2
88 Pontiac Fiero coupe

04 Honda Civic Hybrid
07 Toyota Corolla
87 GMC Caballero
98 Pontiac Bonneville SE
09 Toyota Corolla
01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
84 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Those were the notables. there is a stretch in the middle where I had a new car every other day. Working at a junkyard has it's advantages.
I've probably got the shortest list for a member over 18. An Accord, two neons, and currently a civic.

i'm 29 and my wife asked me for a list on our anniversary dinner earlier this year. I think the list came to 22. I have only bought one car (and sold one car) since then. So 23.
Next time she tries to give me crap about it i'm showing her page one of this thread.
I've had over 100 in 38 years, though most of them were when I was younger, and at that, over 30 were air cooled VWs. Most only stayed around a few months, though many were around for years all at the same time.

At 46 I'm not that far ahead of you, although 18 is more than I thought it would be:
71 Mercury Comet

88 BMW 325is
72 Triumph GT6 (still own)
64 Morris Mini
08 Dodge Grand Caravan (still own)
79 Triumph Spitfire (still own)
Still.. this is quite a number compared to my mother (68 years old) who has owned 5 cars her entire driving life (she didn't own a car until after college):
71 Dodge Demon (72-85)
85 Subaru wagon (85-93)
93 Dodge Intrepid (93-94; bought back by Chrysler)
95 Subaru wagon (94-07)
08 Volvo V50 (07 to present)
I just did this for my 50th birthday, I am at 67 on the list, but I know there are a few missing.

2009 Subaru WRX 5-door
1987 Shelby CSX
1997 Dodge Dakota (Still have it)
2012 Mazda 3 5-door (Still have it)
So, that's 15 cars. Longest car owned is the Trans Am, which I bought in 2002. Most mileage I've put on a car is definitely my Mazda, which I bought new and now has just over 127K and counting. That's also my longest tenured daily driver, with just over 5 years and counting for fleet time.
5 out of those cars were silver, hence the stupid screen name which I now hate.
Looks like my list will be the shortest.

I feel like an outsider here... I bought my first car in 1976, and while I'd have to sit down and count them I've probably only had around fifteen cars since then. I tend to keep them a long time. There have been four Pontiacs and four BMWs in there, otherwise there was no real pattern.

How do you guys ever finish projects/get things where you want them going though cars that fast?? Though I guess maybe that question answers itself...
In order, not including bikes. I'm 25.
Not a ton, but plenty to keep me busy. I tend to keep them for a long time if I like them, and try to get them as close to 'finished' as possible. Of course, that rarely happens. Everything can be improved...
Hmmm, let's see. I'll start with my first and work my way thru.

gearheadE30 wrote: How do you guys ever finish projects/get things where you want them going though cars that fast?? Though I guess maybe that question answers itself...
For me, I had a custom auto body shop so I had facilities and tools to build cars pretty fast, and a lot to store them in while getting ready to build them. So early on, I'd buy them cheap, build them up, then drive them a few months and sell them on for the next project (and I ALWAYS had several going at the same time so it's not like I'd build one, then sell it and build the next. I'd have upwards of 5-10 cars at once and keep them for a while while cycling them out occasionally for another. Quite a few of them stayed for a year or more.). Not really flipping them, but not keeping them a long time, either. I have too many ideas for custom projects, especially for air cooled VWs, that I didn't want to stop with just one or two. Autocross cars and track cars usually stayed around a whole season before moving on to the next, though there were a couple that only stayed for a few events to dial them in before selling them to someone who wanted a sorted car to start with.
