This thread was a lot more exciting when it was about the Fiat.

I am happy to keep this a boring, uneventful ownership thread!

I read through this thread last night, and thanks to you, found out my 2019 ND-RF has a telescoping steering column. I've had the car a couple of months and hadn't tried pulling on the steering wheel, just moved it up or down. LOL.

I love dual-use tires for exactly this reason. Obscured by the mist is a poor sap changing tires in the rain, in the dark this morning.

Ok man.  I'm feeling anxious about how bad this might be.  Post some pics or something.

So I had a bit of an off at Road Atlanta this weekend... sideways at speed into a concrete wall. I'm okay, passenger Rustomatic is okay, though he was on the impact side. I am 95% sure the car is totaled. Should find out soon, as it is getting appraised by insurance. I am thankful we walked away from it, and also that I had HPDE insurance. I'll share more details and pics once the insurance process is a little further along. Hospital said very minor concussion, nothing serious to worry about. It's just neck muscle pain at this point and I'm back at work. So unsure about everything now...what car to get next, what to use it for, dual purpose vs dedicated track, or if I even want to get back out there at all. Luckily I'm in a position where I don't have to make any decisions quickly. One step at a time.

Ugh.  That sucks, man.  Was such a good looking car.  Did her job if everyone walked away though.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that :(   That's horrible.   I'm glad you're okay and the safety team did their job at Mazda, but still :(

I thought we had agreed this was to be uneventful!

Glad you're okay. There are more Miatas.

I really hate to read about this. Glad everybody's okay. Definitely interested to hear about the process With your track day insurance on the far side of it. Always wondered how that worked out for people.

Oh man. Bummer! I'm glad that you're both OK for the most part. I'm sure you'll be sore for a while.

When you're all done please tell us all about how the track day insurance process works out. I'm hoping that it's fairly painless.

Yep, this has remained a "boring, uneventful ownership thread."  I just got access to pics.  The driver's side looks great.

I'd be interested to know what (if any) airbags fired with this sort of event. Seat bags?

Was mentioned in rustomatic's Falcon thread that airbags hurt.  Dunno which though

It's officially totaled. They said the settlement will be the full amount I specified in the policy. They will be handling the title with the lienholder and paying me the balance from there. I only had a few payments left anyway. They will also be recovering the vehicle from the track lot. No word on a buy-back option, but I don't have any interest in that. So far the process has been smooth, painless, and quick.

I am also aware there could be track damages to pay for, and if any, I am not clear on whether the club organization's insurance covers that or if I do. Have not heard from them or the track yet.

Now you can get the new 2024 and report back on the improvements :)

really sorry to hear about the car but as others have said, there are plenty of miatas out there and frankly if one has to die on a track, that's probably the most fitting way to go.

Glad you're OK and I can't imagine how relieved you probably were to know you had insurance covering you on this.

Typical 10% track insurance deductible?  Which company did you use?  Glad to hear that they're making it a smooth process....

A Miata is safe in the garage, but that is not what Miatas are made for.

Road Atlanta is a bitch sometimes. I crashed my Speed3 there. You're in good (bad) company. Sorry to hear about the car, but the important parts are alright - glad you guys are (relatively) ok.
