Funny isn't it. Just last year Manor was having difficulty with the 107% rule in F1 Qualy, but Sports cars separate whole classes by 107%.

Makes you wonder if they keep an eye on the lap charts to see if they can ratchet up the speed they can run.
Like a big elaborate bracket racing thing.
Ok, so a dumb question...
This is France's big race. So why Nissan and not Renault?
A Nissan powered Alpine??? Seriously?
Did someone miss a rather obvious memo???

Long long history. For those that don't know go and look at some of the things the French have pulled or have tried to pull on the British over the years. Cars were the wrong color, wrong number of wheel studs, mysterious issues with drivers credentials. Let's not get started on the Montecarlo rally over the years!!!!!
Ah, sounds like a Brit who remembers Monte Carlo 1966...
That quote about it being a British race came from Evo magazine, actually.

I mean it sounds like Ferrari is trying to get them to DQ Ford because they broke out of their dial in... so yeah. Though from what little I gather, Ferrari did too.
In reply to Keith Tanner:
Yup I do. Also I remember that it was Puali Toivonen in a French Citroën who was gifted the win. He was appalled and was later delighted when his son the late great Henri won in 1986 and said a Toivonen had finally won the Montecarlo legitimately.

Couldn't be worse than during the golden age of the diesels......once nighttime hit they ratcheted up the fuel to obscene levels since it was harder to see them rolling coal at night....

Audi being dishonest about diesel technology pollution!?!?! foreshadowing things to come
So I headed over to FerrariChat.com to look at their LaMans thread
No surprised there are some seriously upset butt hurt peeps over there with panties in major wads crying foul that Ford and the ACO cheated.
Claims that he GT isn't a road car. It is, cars will be delivered this year and all teams agreed they could run . Claiming that the BOP for Ford was fixed even though it and the Ferrari were within 1/10th of each other and both way ahead of Porsche, Aston, Corvette ets.
Claiming that the Fords were open checkbook race cars run by the factory. Well, they were effectivly factory run through Ganassi, but the Rissi Ferrari's were designed and built by Michelotto who have built Ferrari's non F1 race cars since the 80's. Also the Ford is actually closer to the production car than many of the others as it uses the production tub, aero, trans etc. The Ferrari has modified structure, Xtrac trans, different aero etc.
Love it.
It's going to be interesting to see how GT progresses over the next few years. It looks like the next 911 GT Pro car will be mid engined. GT and GT3 are really starting to diverge. GT cars are certainly much closer to production than the GT Pro cars. I wonder if we will get to a point where the GT Pro cars replace the prototypes? I wonder how fast a Ford GT or Ferrari 458 could go without any BOP and a little more power?
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
You forgot that the GT has production heads and block. Except they are from the lowly Taurus instead of the F150 (whcih is what the GT will have).
Talking with my engine friends- the GT has a LOT of power in it- it's running fairly low boost relative to what it can do. And they are examining some ideas for making considerably better fuel economy. From Ferrari's F1 team, ironically.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
I never saw any Ferrari in-car, but the Porsche, Corvette, and Ford in-car feeds were quite telling. Only one of those three were not in flat out, crash the curbs qualifying mode...
That can also be the difference between a good enduro driver and a good qualifying driver. We did some Time Attack a few years back (before the term was coined) and had two drivers. One was a sprint driver, and he'd get one fast lap followed by a bunch of recovery ones. The other was an enduro driver, and he'd lay down the same lap time over and over regardless of traffic and without stressing the car. I know which one would have looked faster on video.
My impression of LeMans.

That is stupid.Politics in these things have happened for forever.....heck, Ferrari managed to get a race canceled in Italy so they wouldn't have to be smacked sideways by a chicken farmer....
Hearing Ferrari cry foul makes me throw up a little in my mouth. LOL
