Sooooo, this weekend I was supposed to be at the Oregon SCCA autocrosses in Packwood. John decided to double-drive my RX-7 Saturday since he's flying out for work today so we drove the 100 miles up and started racing. Got done with our whole 3 runs each and decided it was time to go. John ripped a contact and couldn't see very well (he hit 3 cones on a wide-open course in an RX-7!!) so we had to go to BELLINGHAM (which is by Canada) to get his spares.

Drove over the pass into Emunclaw and filled up. 180 miles on 9.2 gallons. Not bad considering 6 autocross runs in there and a mountain pass! Continued up to B-Ham, grabbed the contacts and dinner with a friend, and then turned around and headed south. 225 miles later we're back in Seattle at the airport hotel. 9.5 gallons. That's 23.7 MPG in a carburetor equipped 12A rotary!!! Did I mention the odo rolled over 234,000 miles as well?

Decided I was tired and drove the remaining 110 miles home to Kelso. That's 515 miles in ONE day in a loud, obnoxious RX-7 buzzing away.

Needless to say I'm not in Packwood at the races now. It's time to take a day of from racing. I'm pretty sure the 7 will need an oil change and some other maintenance now too.

Awesome.

I feel for you, man...

I put 400 miles in yesterday between looking at the MX6 and farting around Louisville.

Being that it was a nice day, you think i was smart and took the Escort? Nope. I decided it would be fun to take the FSP Celica. Yeah. Not so much.

I will be using the Escort on Tuesday to go pick it up, thanks very much.

At least i got 34.7 mpg.

It was a blast thanks to some really fantastic weather and an open top. We hit some nasty snow and rain through the pass though! Azenis + snow = NOT GOOD!

Yesterday I rode my Buell about 400 miles just so I could fix my grandma's computer. It is only used for email and took about an hour. Almost 8 hours of riding for a chat with AOL and some roast beef, yeehaw!

The Uly got 53 mpg at an average speed of "faster than the speed limit.". I followed a GTR for a while and passed him when the road got rough on White Pass. He pulled into the gas station I stopped at (in Packwood!), gave me a thumbs up, and kept on driving. It was kind of funny having a guy in a GTR go out of his way to give ME the thumb up...

No speeding tickets, a run in with a GTR, great mileage, and Grandma's computer is now set up for gmail...not a bad day!

If it sounded like a chainsaw flew by at full-tilt, then that was me.

We totally need to do a PacNW meetup.

Yeah, that would be cool. when is the next event you're going to be at locally? I would love to co drive, since the minivan is unlikely to be released for competition, trust me I've asked I need to do an event before I deploy, wonder if there's a lotus rental nearby hmmm....or Avis has a camaro SS hmmm.....

Hehehe...

I have a loaded competition calender. Next Saturday is the Packwood ProSolo #2, but I am skipping that for some drag racing at PIR (defending my Championship form last year) and then the Oregon Region PCA AutoX on Sunday (also at PIR). Then it's a weekend off to visit family followed by ORPCA AutoX on July 5th at PIR.

You are more then welcome to co-drive my 7 on the 5th if you come down.

Well if I'm still around, which seems likely, buuuut......who knows. That is a 4 day if I'm here, only problem I can see is the missus will want me around that weekend, maybe she'll come with...hmm.

Naw, I run with a GForce full-face and it's fine. Remember, my 7 is a "Targa" and run sans roof, so it gets pretty windy with the windows down. Plus there's more headroom!

I don't have time to go racing until I'm done building a race car. Oh, the irony!

Oh, at least come by and say hi! You're like what, 3 miles from the track? Maybe we should just stop by afterward to wrench on the Fiero?

You read my mind...we can point fingers all day at who will be three miles away, but in the end I'm the one with the $2009 car in progress, so I trump. You're welcome to swing by and check things out, you don't have to wrench but you're welcome to if you want to. If any of the local(ish) folks want to come gawk/wrench/spectate, you're more than welcome. I'm right by PIR.

So wherethefmi and I will race in the morning and we'll drop by your place for lunch and to gawk at the project.

Any other PDX people want to get in on this?

I'd have one in progress if it weren't for my pending deployment, and I may be bringing an EVO 8 with me, not mine but a buddy who want's to try out autocrossing. he's got something like 400hp at the wheels
