Not sure how I've missed it, nor have I ever seen one raced. What's it like? Sorry for the thread jack.

Don't worry about the threadjack. That car is pretty cool!

I re-investigated. I have 7" wide wheels.

I also went and re-looked at the 16" wheel and tire options. I am not sure it gets me much more over teh 15 or 17 inch options.

I am kind of thinking I want either 215 or 225 17s or 225 15.

But then, what tires. It seems either the Rivals or ZII would be an acceptable choice. I am going to check toe and camber and wheel bearings to eliminate them as possibilities for the increased tire wear.

Thanks for all the help so far!

Rob, I suggested the 16" option as it has an overall diameter smaller than most of the 17" options to keep your gear ratios tighter with your lack of torque. I think you are on the right track though.

You spend a lot of time a full throttle. Even with a SOHC VTEC motor from a 98 civic, it is slow, as the 4wd system adds some significant weight and drag on a torque less engine. It handles wonderfully, is easy to drive and predictable, can be made to over or under steer easily, can hold long and lurid drifts in the snow, and you can get on the power really early out of a corner as there is never wheel spin.

We are going to try to overcome the lack of power issue with boost next year. We already have it as light as it can reasonably get and it is still a dog on the straights, but as fast as anything else in a turn.

Posted at the same time Sonic did, so adding a rookie perspective (I've now done 5 races). I'm one of its' drivers The car is absolutely awesome! It doesn't have enough power to get itself in trouble. So pretty much every car on track walks away from it down the straights. But the car is incredible in the corners. Extremely predictable, smooth, easy to drive. It'll slide it's tail a little, but as Sonic taught me...stand on the gas and it'll come right back in line. It's a ton of fun to play with. I can keep up with seriously fast cars through the turns. That pisses some of them off and they get all red misty down the next straight and carry too much speed...I just smile and waive as they go 4 off into the grass.

Rob what wheel bolt pattern is your RX7?

5 x 114.3.

Same as a Mustang. The 17" wheels I have are from a 96 or 97 Mustang GT. The wheels fit perfect.

I was looking for some 16" Mustang wheels, but the cheapest I could find is $200.00 for a set. That seems a bit strange to buy 16" when I have 15s and 17s.
