derp misspelled infiniti wrong again, stupid auto correct.

Ya, so it's been suggested here before that I go test drive a G37. As I was looking for a coupe version of my crown Victoria. Test drove a bunch of sports cars and finally got around to the G37. I really liked it, straight automatic, power in the back, comfortable seats, quiet interior, felt similar to my crown victoria in some odd ways (other than the handling).

As I only drive 5-7k miles a year, I can pick up something in the 60-70k mile range and keep it under 100k for awhile.

I came across this. Low mileage 2009, service records is really great too, one owner, service it's whole life in the dealership I'm buying it from. It's sat for 2 months unsold, so maybe even be able to work on the price although they already dropped it $1k.

Will it keep it's value OK in a few years, if I keep it clean and well maint?

I love these cars because they seem to depreciate so badly... I'll be replacing my G35 with a G37s in a couple years.

I think they're great cars. Not a lot of love for them on here for some reason.

As for your comments about it feeling like a crown vic...please explain dude. I'm pretty sure those words have never been uttered by anybody, anywhere, at any time---until now

Dunno, my crown vic is an lx sport and is fancy inside. Rear wheel drive, big engine up front, sort of a "luxury car" has a bit of weight to it. Mostly just rear wheel drive.

If shopping Craigslist, be sure to keyword Infinity too since about 20% of the cars are listed that way.

It's priced a little high but not horrible. They have a good following used especially the coupe so they seem to flat line a little higher than the rest of the pack. 2004s will 100K miles are in the 7-10K bracket depending on condition.

I like mine a lot as a DD. It's comfy and roomy. I have the sedan but it's close to the same driving experience. I'd also look at 7 speed in the later cars over a 5 speed model but that is just me. I found they seem to shift a little better.

Scary thing is my old "muscle" car can't even keep up with it as I can click off 13.6 quarters all night long if the air is cool. Not bad for a 4 door family hauler.

Is it weird that driving g37 is the first time I've felt like an adult (am I'm 28 years old)..

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a tiny bit older and the only car I've owned that felt like a "grown up car" is an Acura TL that's about the same age. Hard to say why it is, but whenever I see it parked I think, "Who's dad is visiting?"

They are surprisingly nice cars given their prices. Quick too. And hilarious on the track, looks kind of like a hippo riding a tiny bicycle.

I find it odd, you have had to make adult decisions since you were 17 (deciding if you will go to college or not, which one, etc.)

I test drove an 04 Infiniti G35 and a 13 Genesis Coupe, and I also like the Genesis Coupe much more.

I think it was a culmination of everything which hit me when I sat into the G37. Like.. a little voice inside my head saying "Hey you've done this to get here, you are sitting in this fancy car and you can pay cash for it right now if you wanted to. Look it's got leather, look it's got a weird watch face on the dashboard". I think it I was 10 years older, I'd like the G37 better.

But later that day I drove two Genesis Coupes, both 2.0T. The 2013 which I thought drove great but has the lame fake vents and spoiler, I'll pass on that. And the automatic 2012 2.0T which I liked.

Right now I think the Genesis 2.0T or v6 Automatic is the right mix of big so good amount of room, heavy so feels better to me than, easy driving with the automatic (plus i heard the manual gearbox is nothing to write home about), price, simple inside but not angsty teenage like the FRS, and warrenty on the drive drain which is actually useful for me given how long the year limitation is.

What did you like more about the coupe and did you drive the Turbo or v6?

Bwahaha I can relate to that very closely! It was my cousin's G37. I've driven more expensive, newer, and bigger cars, but driving the G37 made me feel like a grown-up. Maybe because it's sort of like a car I might buy if I made grown-up money

Does the back seat fold down in any G35/37 2/4doors?

In reply to Coldsnap: I drove a '13 3.8 R-Spec with the 6-speed. The local dealers didn't have a 2.0T available for me to test drive. I wrote a fairly detailed review of it and some other cars here. In short, what the G35 is good at, the Genesis Coupe is an improvement, some are significant. Also, I haven't driven a G37 Coupe, so it's not a direct comparison of what I like compared to what you like.

It may or may not be relevant to your interests/needs, but last time I looked into it, the G has much better aftermarket support and hop-up potential than the Genesis (due to it's close association to the 370z). It's been a couple years, maybe the Genesis aftermarket has improved since then.

I won't be doing any modifications, since I don't autocross or race. Was actually just looking at base model Genesis 2.0T. Test drove that and it was fun enough around town for me.
