Does the hive like them?

I have a line on a decently priced, stock coupe with about 100k miles. Initial evidence would appear it's never been touched by the flat billed hat crowd, but I've yet to verify.

Are they worth a look? Any pitfalls on a stock one?

It would be replacing my stock 99 Miata. Will it bore me to tears or are they reasonably fun?

Get it before someone else does, keep it away from salt, wash the undercarriage regularly and enjoy it for another 200+k

Second best (only to a Type-R) of the double-wishbone-B-series Hondas. The best-handling sedan of them all, a set of modern 200TW tires away from 1.0g.

Timing belt and water pump need to be changed every 7 years regardless of mileage. Don't believe the previous owner. They are MASSIVELY improved by a tiny lightweight flywheel and clutch. Engine seals eventually leak and the main relay eventually fails. Adjust the valves every 15,000 miles and it'll stay quieter. The power steering is very good but a manual conversion is worth the trouble in steering feel and reduced road-trip fatigue alone.

Several dealers online discount OEM parts to prices similar to the awful Autozone ones.

Keeping away from salt won't happen.

It'll be an all season DD. I'll fluid film and wash, but it'll be in all the weather we get in Ohio.

You'll have to wash it every 3 days all winter and budget for repainting/rust repair every 5 years. They're not making any more.

Timing belt and cat were just replaced.

It'll stay stock for me, but I'd consider a flywheel if I replace the clutch.

This x1000. And you won't want it to return to the earth. They're a best a breed. I actually like them more than the need to be wound out to a boil type R.

The GSR is pretty great. I like them even better than their contemporary Civic Si.

I owned a '98 for several years. They're fantastic cars. Great brakes, great motor, great suspension!

And everyone is correct about the timing belt/water pump. It's an easy job. Same with valve adjustments.

This is the biggest downside of these great Hondas. Loved my GSR.

I think the stolen honda craze is over or nearing its end by now, these cars are getting quite old and there are better options for things to steal now.

I love my 94' GS-R. I had miatas before the acura and this car has a much more usable interior, a great handing front wheel drive chassis, and an engine with a lot more character. Mine has slowly morphed from a stock daily driver into a street legal racecar with a race seat, roll bar, diff, and stiff suspension. I'd love to have a second car for street use.

Is that still the case? I would think the theft rates might have fallen off, as the b series has given way to the k motors as the must-have Honda engine and the Fast and Furious thing has generally died out.

I had a bone stock 90 Integra RS in high school, so a generation older and non-VTEC B18a1, but I still liked it a lot. Kind of a POS, but that was more the fault of the PO than the car. The VTEC b series engines are tons of fun and the chassis is lively and communicative.

They are still stolen a lot. Co-worker had his stolen over the summer. All the new K-series stuff has immobilizers so the thieves don't bother, the Integras are really easy targets and a B18 engine is still a very desirable swap.

Bummer, there's not many around anymore. I had a 4 door GSR, love that car. Mine was stolen, shell was found stripped 3 weeks later on the side of some road, about 50 miles from home

Nothing about the car made me pass. Just decided to keep managing my current situation and stick with the Miata.

The GSR thought exercise was a solution to a problem that didn't have to be solved.

I agree, the ad seems great and the sellers communication was consistent with the Ad. I'm sure it'll be a great car for whomever buys it

This is under a 3 hr. drive from me. I would consider this since I've regretted not buying one new in 94 I just don't know what I would do with it if it wasn't a DD. Looking at Kbb, excellent condition is $3625. So if it was stolen, your going to take a big hit from your insurance co. Another reason not to DD it.

Bushings. Everyone skips these, but either replace them with OEM rubber or with poly. Personally, I like OEM rubber. EVERY Honda I've looked at from the 'golden era' NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS almost all the bushings replaced, especially the horribly worn rear trailing arm bushings.

Most aftermarket parts are crap unless you spend good $, which no one does anymore on a Honda.

When they're well sorted, they're some of the best driving FWD cars out there.

I think Mugen also makes rubber bushes. When I bought my cheap Type R in the UK, the rear trailing arm bushings were well past their "bury by" date. I didn't want to get polyurethane bushes, so the Mugen were the next best (albeit "slightly" more expensive) option, being rubber but stiffer than stock.

Hardrace makes some good replacement rubber trailing arm bushings, much better than the poly alternatives for that part.
