My buddy is looking to get rid of his SC400 its in pretty good condition, I just dont know to much about them, how are their transmissions? What kind of go fast/ handle support do they have? ANND this is what happens when i get hurt. Busted ankle can barely walk and have to cancel my RallyX on Sunday, so I am planning...maybe a good future challenge car?
Very reliable, no real aftermarket support for the 1uzfe. Try Lextreme.com, best you can do for power is forced induction. And all the forced induction stuff is DIY unless you find a fish bracket for a centrifugal supercharger. There are not bolt on manual options either. All adapter kits etc. But, the 1uzfe is a reliable motor. The starter is under the intake manifold though!
Not a lot of headroom. You will not get a helmet on in the stock seat if you are near 6ft tall.
There are manual swap parts available, I think the company is in Australia. There are bolt on turbo setups available too (http://ttcperformanceproducts.com/ttcpe1twtuki.html). I think if you want stupid power you need stronger rods, but I think 1uzs are stout enough for 400 wheel or something iirc.
Slow as piss, a bolt on 1uz car makes 200hp. On ebay you can buy cnc files to machine your own adapter plate (w58 or r154) and same company makes a file to adapt an eaton m112 onto the lower intake manifold. Pre 93 had the most stout motors in terms of engineering (thicker rods ect) but the later years had more power. Eventually with vvt I think they got them to 300hp

My dad had one. To me, it drove like a big, Japanese Thunderbird

The junkyard 1UZ in the Wreck Racing miata made 223 whp with headers and an intake. But yeah, it's not the most powerful v8...

They have a very good suspension design and there are good shocks available from a few different sources. You shouldn't need much other than shocks and springs for racing. The camber/caster adjustment is pretty good with the OEM setup and if the car is lowered a little, you should be able to pull 2-3 degrees of camber no problem.
Hmm so it has potential...sort of. Thanks for all the info everyone. Maybe it will be a candidate for a potential Lemon/Chump car. But it may be a very thirsty choice.

They have huge fuel tanks (22 or 23 gallons, I think), so other than the cost, fuel shouldn't give you much trouble in an enduro.
If you can get enough weight out, and don't mind running an automatic, it would probably be a reasonably competitive car. It's possible to get them down to 2800 lbs or less with aggressive weight reduction, which isn't too bad for a car with 200+ whp (in LeMons or ChumpCar at least).
They are pretty much THE car to have in ChumpCar right now.

Maybe not the SC400, since no manual trans. But the SC300... yeah, pretty much.
