And yes, before anyone asks, it's the old (heavy) FR500 replicas off of my old P71. Fronts are 17x9, rears are 17x10.5. They have 245/45/17 and 275/40/17's on them that badly need to be replaced. Luckily the old rear spacers should work, so I should just need 2 spacers and new tires (which I'll buy in the spring). In the meantime, a buddy is going to trade a co-drive to borrow his A6's on 18x9 RPF1's, which we calculate should fit with the same spacers.
I got a set of Team Dynamics and TOYO RA-1s from the owner of the race team that's backing me for a nice $350 a while back. The TOYOs are well worn but he told me that they will work well for AutoX and track days, but just diont have the grip needed for SM. I might pick up the other set they have laying around the SM shop next time I drop by. Pays to know people!

My buddy here at work uses John Berget, commonly gets sizes in the 240/640/17 to 265/640/17 sizes on his E36 M3. Although he is contemplating a jump to 18s for more available sizes/compounds.
If anyone is looking at circle track tires remember that generally the lighter the car and shorter the track the softer they will be, and left and right may be diferent compounds, with the lefts being softer. Ones for bigger speedways and heavier cars like former cup cars are going to likely be too hard to heat up at an autocross. Ideally you would try to find 4 left sides from fairly small track. If you are going to get them from a place where you can see in person bring along a durometer. I don't know if it's still the case but we used to run McCrearys, which are now the American Racers and if you picked through them you could usually find a set that was a bit softer than others.

They're comparable in my experience. I have had extensive time to test them though.
