OLOA legend Robert Dubler tagged a curb and got some "help" from the SRS system...

Track is hot for afternoon sessions, so I'm waiting our turn to go out. Andy's performance was great this morning, so he clearly learned from our data. My goal is to work on my line and my brake release on corner entry to try and stay ahead of him.

Just finished up, packed the car, and we're back on the road. Verdict: Andy wins today! Based on the Catalyst data it looks like he's about a second per lap faster than me. We'll see what that means for the overall results once timing is posted in a few hours. I know where the extra time is--I was way too conservative on the curbing. Nicely done, Andy!

Tonight we have a 735 mile transit to Eagle's Canyon Raceway in Texas.

Results are in for Nashville afternoon and it's a 2nd in class and 28th overall for Tom!!  Seems like many teams got slower in the afternoon heat.  Most important, Tom just barely squeaked by our two closest class rivals to maximize class points. Woot!

Good morning from wherever Eagle's Canyon is. Andy is in charge of hotels and navigation, while I just use my younger eyes to follow the Waze line in the dark. We've reached the point of One Lap where I honestly couldn't put a pin in our location if you handed me a map.

Today we're awake before the Holiday Inn Express, so this is our breakfast.

had a thought this morning about one aspect of your week you haven't covered yet:  what is the setup you and Andy running for Head & Neck Restraint?

What's an eyeball guess of the split between half-cage + HANS, vs. OEM Belts + Hybrid of the other competitors?

I realize this might be a "touchy" subject; but it's a new requirement... and I'm curious to see how the field (Old Dogs, and Puppies alike) are adjusting to it.

I missed it yesterday, taking care of other things around here... but, I shouldn't have been surprised that Bryan and Solomon made it to the track to cover part of the morning...

so, just to be clear, this is YESTERDAY's Livestream, added here for completeness... and in case you have 30mins of your day to kill today, and want to catch up

Enjoying following along with this one!

Can somebody remind me: Do both the morning and the afternoon sessions count in the standings, or is it just your better time from the two sessions that counts?

Also: What's the deal with tire changes? I thought they weren't allowed but earlier somebody said the Tesla was getting some new tires.

In reply to CrashDummy :

It's the cumulative time from all sessions. So if your codriver runs a 4:18.678 and you run the afternoon and get a 4.10.345 it's added to the total running timr

Good morning from Eagle's Canyon! I've never been here before, while Andy has a few dozen hours here. Time to walk the track and learn some tips.

It's the cumulative time from all sessions. So if your codriver runs a 4:18.678 and you run the afternoon and get a 4.10.345 it's added to the total running timr

so, the morning session is a 3 lap cumulative time that's scored against the other times put down in that session.  Each place garners 5points.  So, 1st (this year, with 84 cars entered) gets 420points, 2nd 415.  If there's a tie in time... then you'll see "3rd, 3rd" and the scoring will skip to "5th", and each tied in 3rd gets "3rd points" (i.e. 410).

The afternoon session is a separate session of 3 cumulative laps that are scored.

The points are added cumulative over the various sessions.  In the cumulative/Overall (and class results) results:
https://onelapofamerica.com/event/CumResultsOverall.do?eventId=44

the time for each session is also added up cumulatively for the event, and is used to adjust as a tie-braker in points, with the lower cumulative time getting the better overall placing.

Similar works for "class", each timed session you'll score 5pts for placing in-class in session.

also, if you DNS/DNF for a session, you get 0 points, and get 120(?) minutes added to you cumulative time.  There's also time penalties for knocking over cones on-track, and a 10 sec time penalty for missing pit-in, or failing to stop at start/finish for your standing start of your timed session.

Still waiting on timing, but I think we did well in the morning session--Andy managed times ranging from 2:12 to 2:14.
