What is the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge presented by Tire Rack? It’s where penny-pinching and extreme speed meet–often with spectacular results.
Competitors are welcome to build a car for less than $2000, enter an over-budget build, or both: They’ll all battle against each other at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, to see if money really equals speed this weekend, …

It's time for final touches in the hotel parking lot!
In reply to wae :
Did you get a BiTurbo and keep it a secret the whole time?
In reply to EvanB :
Only took one pic and 3 minutes for that cat to leave the bag 😂
Oh, God bless you on the BiTurbo! A Challenge goal that no one has yet achieved.
Please tell me you requested number 185 to remind people that all Masertis go 185. Please have a bumper sticker that reads, My Other Car is a Limo.
Yeah, Challenge history.
And hello from my office. Making magazines with Sarah at the moment while the rest of the team is setting up.
E36 M3....a BiTurbo shows up and I'm not there. Life is so unfair. Somebody post pictures.

Admittedly we all thought it was one of Wae's worse ideas... But it came together and hasn't been that Italian to us thus far...
In reply to wae :
Get with Tom and get your feature story pictures taken early, like before the event really gets started.
I recommend video of its very first pass. Maybe even video of it driving off the trailer.
Statistically, you're facing doom and unmitigated failure so any early proof of self propulsion should be gathered.
Or, did you bring this car in its natural state...on a trailer and non running?
I kid, I kid! I am really rooting for you...but the odds are against.

Brutal but accurate - hoping the fire extinguishers are fully charged at the track.

Strong massochism streak in that one but we love him anyway. He even brought his talented Wae Jr to co-drive with him.

It's been really hard to keep quiet about this since last July, but yes - I can confirm that some idiot has brought a Biturbo to the Challenge. It is car # 185 of course, but I ran out of time to cut the "My other car is a limo" vinyl unfortunately!
In reply to wae :
Given my name similarity to the singer, I have given this one a lot thought. However, I was more likely to use a Chrysler TC by Maserati
In the back seat should be a few vinyl records painted gold. On the passenger seat should be some mail opened with one letter just saying, "you're great!". Another letter says, "can't wait for your next record!"
A few hotel key cards, maybe next to some demolition tools and next to that a business card of an accountant.
Sounds like I need to be up there at the crack of dawn with a squeegee and vinyl applicator XD

That had to have been ENORMOUSLY difficult!!
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
I did bring a Halotron fire extinguisher, just in case.
The parking lot build is making progress!
