This weekend’s task: carrying camera gear to Daytona for HSR’s 24-hour event.
The trip across town is fairly routine for us–traffic keeps increasing, though–and the Infiniti was perfect for the task: comfortable and lots of room for gear. Despite the race’s overnight schedule, didn’t get a chance to sleep in it–home is just too close.
It hits the main points you’d want to hit when shopping for a luxury SUV: It’s quiet, it’s quick, it’s loaded. (I appreciate the quietness the most as that’s hard to change after the fact.)
The touch points feel upmarket, too, although some of the switches could have a bit more “click” to them.
Perhaps the true test of a luxury vehicle these days: How nicely is the center cubby finished? In this case, the fuzzy finish feels upmarket and solid. I’d call it easily a passing grade.
Seats are way comfortable. Sportier than expected, meaning good bolstering for both butt and back. Love the finish on the leather.
For a three-row SUV, oddly, it parks smaller than expected.
The big question: As the Asian luxury market hasn’t gotten any easier these days, can Infiniti out-Lexus Lexus, and how does Genesis play into all of this?
