The thread a couple weeks back on the English Gent who bought the 2007 Honda F1 car w/o engine/trans got me thinking about home built LMP/F1 style cars. I know given their makeup of CF parts no one will most likely be building one in their garage (exactly) any time soon. However I was interested if anyone knew of some locost builds or builds in general where people had put alot of effort into making a kit car or home built into an LMP/F1 style racer?
The closest thing I've ever found was Jon Olsson's heavily modified and re-bodied Ultima GTR. He's made renderings of improvements to his already sweet design:
Jon Olsson's Initially modifed GTR
Jon Olsson's Newly Completed GTR
video of the finished product, amazing...
Obviously we aren't all multi-million dollar playboys running around ski slopes and can have a team of people modify our cars to our heart's content, so I want to see if anyone knows where a person has taken their home built body way over the edge...
In reply to mainlandboy:
Thats the exact build I was thinking of too when I read the title of this thread.
(The locost forum is thwarting my efforts for hotlink!!!!)
There is the FFR GTM Endurance Racer by PDG
And the RCR Superlite Eagle
Both entires into the 25hrs of Thunderhill.

Thanks for that link, I was going to waste that hour of my life anyway, at least I was reading a sweet build thread!
I've been following that build thread for a long time. It isn't what I would build, but I love the guys work and how he documents and explains his process.
See, I knew you guys would come through, I learned about the Superlite Eagle and an excellent build on a locost LMP, might not be the prettiest, but damn is that hardcore...
